"It just dawned on me," Richard shook his head. "IF you've never seen a stop like that, you've never seen reverse control flying at all, have you? Which only makes sense, because I seem to recall the brooms of the day wouldn't hold up to something like that until the late 1940s or so. Which is why it didn't fash you when I suggested throwing a 'headache'. You've never seen one of those, either, let alone doing one yourself. Have to show you what one looks like at speed, and then how to do it."
"Wouldn't mind taking a spin sometime, but what I'd really like is to put your broom on the bench some afternoon for a complete technical analysis. Measure the twigs and stick, have a look at the binding, see what the original spellwork was like. Maybe write a book on it, or at least a monograph. Do you know I've never even seen a functional Celeritas before?"
He thought for a moment. "Tell you what, try a few at twenty per, then thirty and forty. I did that stop from right about a hundred, and I'd like to see you work up to something like that. Oh, and that fishtail at the end? That was just showing off - used to do that in formation when I flew with the Hufflepuff team and we'd scored. There's a trick to scrubbing off speed that way, but I'd like to see you master the basic technique first."
