So far, having Sam around the house was comforting. Even if he acted tired most of the time, it was just nice having him around. Sam was about the only thing Dean had been worried about leaving, but he'd been through his share of times when he had to wonder if Sam wouldn't have been better off without him. The dude had found a girl and a dog and got out before. They weren't supposed to keep saving each other, and he knew all too well that he needed Sam a helluva lot more than Sam needed him.
Right now? Sam needed him, though. He was different, but so was Cas, so was everyone. He didn't know how this place worked, but deep down, he didn't care. Things were easy, and damn if he didn't want to enjoy that a little bit longer. If anyone deserved a break, he figured it was them.
Giving up on eating dry cereal from a box, Dean just closed it up and ducked to peek into the fridge. Low, as usual, considering he still bought the bare minimum to get them by. It was a habit he was going to have to break eventually. He grabbed a couple beers instead before heading to Sam's room, putting on a good show of smiling and giving a quick knock before stepping in and walking himself over to Sam's bed. He plopped down without much care. They'd shared a bed for a pretty huge chunk of their lives, and shared a room for an even bigger one. Sam could deal. He offered him the second bottle as a show of friendship just in case.
"We gotta get food or lunch tomorrow is gonna be crap." He admitted, twisting the top off the bottle and smiling at the simplicity of even that. They didn't have this brand back home, but beer was beer for the most part. He took a drink, trying not to look too concerned as he glanced over at Sam. He looked okay, for the most part, but it was the parts inside that were probably still scrambled. He'd seen Sam through it before, and he'd do it again. "Anything you've been feeling lately?"
