Sharon wasn't thinking about Peggy. She wasn't thinking about the kiss or what it meant. She was thinking about Chinese food and airports. She was thinking about how Steve looked in that beard. And she was wishing she'd brought some of those amazing, Chinese import beers to go along with the Chinese food. She was trying to be present. She was attempting to avoid thoughts about her fondness for Steve. It wasn't really working.
"I came here the day after," Sharon explained. She, too, set her fork down. but she'd eaten a fair amount, and was growing satisfied. "I've been here about a year. There's not much to say, really." She blushed ever so slightly. "Sorry. I'm probably the most boring girl who's bought you Chinese lately."
