Who: Noctis Lucis Caelum and Nyx Ulric
What: A fateful meeting
When: Today/Early Afternoon
Where: Everdale
Warnings: PG, slight mentions of past violence and death
Status: Complete
There was something infinitely calming about the quiet the forests of Everdale in the early morning hours, something that Noctis had very nearly grown accustomed to. He knew there was magic here, more so than he readily felt otherwise and the soft stirrings around him made him all the more aware of the fact that this place wasn’t home. The creatures here were different, it was safe to travel at night, at least for the most part. He’d yet to find a proper Chocobo farm, though, the horses had served him well enough in his first few days.
He’d wore his hat and vest today, hoping to spend the better part of the day out by the river, casting and hopefully not hooking anything too crazy. He was fairly certain some of the things in the forest were smarter than him. The occasional rustle of foliage wasn’t normally something to worry about, but the distinctly human gasp between the trees was enough to startle the young man from his thoughts.
A few quick steps had him in a small clearing, seeing a painfully familiar uniform on the man there. He nearly thought to turn away, but after everything, his very soul wouldn’t let him. He stepped carefully, trying not to make any alarming sounds beneath his boots while he drew closer. “This isn’t the best place to make camp...without a tent, at least.”
Nyx’s dreams were a whirl of emotions, he felt the burning of the Kings previously turning his body and soul to ash. The victory he felt as he took out his old captain was bitter sweet. All he had ever wanted was to server the royal family, to his fullest and in this last effort he did that. The city had been lost, but the Princess was on her way. His body had ached, as it was being crisped away as it crackled under the heat of the magic in his body. Nyx remember fondly of the words he said as he departed that world. ’Rule well, young prince.
Then Nyx awoke. The Kingsglaive sat straight up with a loud gasp of air. His lungs burned, and his mind raced. He could feel the grass under him as he sat in an opening of a field. His body burned, but not in the same way previously. More that his muscle were tense and needed to be used. Stiff and sprung waiting for action. His blue eyes trailed around his body seeing he was whole, weapons in place, and a small black bag next to him. Was that his? There were so many questions as he attempted to gain his surroundings.
The elite soldier heard someone approaching, before they spoke. In the immediate instinct was to strike out, but that voice, that tone… it was familiar. Slowly Nyx turned his gaze and let it fall on the Prince. No, the King. There he was. Noctis. Nyx couldn’t believe his eyes in the slightest. Was he still home? Where was Lunafreya? Those were questions to be asked soon enough. Zero hesitation, Nyx shifted and kneeled on on knee, bowing his head. “Your Majesty.”
Taking it all in, knowing what little he knew of the way this place worked, whatever it was, didn't help matters. One of his Father's men, from a time when Noctis himself couldn't fathom. It was just as much a cruel reminder of the past he'd tried to run from, a fate he wanted to escape, yet, maybe Luna was right in that it was going to happen some way or another. His duty was going to be fulfilled, no matter what he did, what path he might try to chose.
Holding his ground was easy when he had known these men his entire life, in some way or form, but it didn't make the gesture any less startling to see. How long had he been in the Crystal? How long had it been since anyone bowed to him. He held no power here, but that didn't stop him from straightening his posture slightly, waving a hand. "Yeah, yeah." It was meant to wave it off, but something about the name said without the hint of teasing he'd grown accustomed to had him looking away, a strange sense of awkwardness bubbling inside him.
"You don't need to do that." He opened his mouth to continue, and despite his instincts to tell him to get up, he found himself stepping forward, even if he still hesitated. "What are you doing here?"
Nyx had no clue of any reaction that came from Noctis. His eyes didn’t dare look from a spot he picked in the grassy patch below him. This was what he was taught and trained for, and he wasn’t about to forget that. There were so many questions at hand, that he had no answers too. There was a strange pull at him, that he felt when he had initially put the ring on, and spoke to the Kings Past. Did he still have his powers? Did he have them because of Noctis? That would make his job incredibly easier. At this point and juncture, there was only one thing that Nyx knew for sure: He had a king, and that king needed protecting. That was now his job, beyond anything else.
The Kingsglaive’s attention was ripped up when he heart the king speak. Unceremonious Noctis was. They’d have to work on that. Being sent off like he was, meant he’d have to help guide him. Speaking of such? Where were those three that were suppose to travel with the Prince, or King more correctly. Slowly, Nyx stood as he was being told that he didn’t need to do that.
“Your Highness, I must.” There was a slow glance around them. “Especially in such a public space. I am unsure where we exactly are, but you being the King, you should be treated with the respect of King. I gave your father that respect, I will give you that same respect.” Slowly Nyx spun around looking about where he awoke. “Though please bare with me.” Nyx then snapped his head towards the young king. “But where is here that I am? Are we close to the Crown City? The last thing I remember was burning and turning to ash after fighting Gluaca and avenging your father.” There was some thoughts crossing his mind as he glanced away, but back to Noctis eagerly. “Lu-” He shook his head. “Princess Nox Fleuret, did she make it to you safely?” There was incredible concern in his voice.
Seeing Nyx stand gave a sense of relief, that he wasn't somehow injured beyond what Noctis had potions for on his person. Still, the feeling didn't last long when the man spoke again, something about it touching over something still too sensitive within him. He didn't really deserve that name. He hadn't felt like he did since Luna was ripped from him. It felt even more useless now, and maybe there was something to the way Prompto had been, a friend first and a member of his team second. It made him remember why things had always felt tense around the kingdom, war aside.
His eyes narrowed slightly as he watched the man take in his surroundings, until his words started stringing together in a way that made sense. Of course. Time magic certainly wasn't anything new, apparently, and yet he'd yet to have seen it in such close proximity. "We're in Everdale right now. Outside the main town. Insomnia isn't here." Nothing was here, not really. He looked away again, looking out through the trees and wondered what it would take to complete his previous plans. He didn't want to hear this, he'd only just fled the life he once had only to have it shoved back down his throat.
As much as mention of his father's death struck him, hearing the question about Luna made his attention snap back. "She..." Had she made it to him safe? He supposed she maybe had, though, it had been way too short lived in the middle of a battle that felt like it didn't even matter anymore. He'd spent weeks mourning her despite the fighting. Now, he wasn't entirely sure what he felt about it. He wasn't even sure what to say about it. "She fulfilled her promise and duty." There was a beat before he began walking. Nyx seemed well off enough that he could leave him without much guilt, even if it felt like something was squeezing his chest.
The ever observant and on point Nyx was falling right into old habits and the way he observed things around him. People, environment, and subtle changes. There were so many tells at hand around Noctis. What has this young man been through. Unlike him, Noctis wasn’t built for the stresses of war. That hurt Nyx deep, but he shoved it aside. Sometimes you just had to grow up quickly and fight with the cards dealt to you. Which was what he had to do when he made the deal that ultimately was to end his life.
My life is nothing. Nyx quoted in his head. Giving the future to those who want to see it… is everything. The Kingsglaive had accomplished the task, he hoped.
Shifting and grabbing the small duffel bag, he followed Noctis. “So you and her wed? The land was saved?” There was relief in his voice. “Where is she? Where is everyone?” While out in this area, he wasn’t about to let the King wander by himself. Who ever let him do that, would have to later answer for that. How irresponsible. “Well, while we are away from the Crown City, I will fill the role of your security, Your Majesty.” There was a tone of pride in his voice. It’s how he rolled. This was what he was made for after all. Combat, and defending the crown family!
As much as Noctis had hoped to be left to his thoughts now that he was presented with this new reality, there was a strange sense of comfort when he heard footsteps behind him, a voice speaking to him. It made him almost instantly miss his men, but they weren't here, and he wasn't sure he wished it on anyone. The questions implied way more than Noctis felt ready to talk about. How could he explain that he left the world to darkness? There was no way anyone could understand the level of selfishness that had taken. He knew he was far from being the charming Prince his father had been grooming him into, but coming here had been an entirely different level of awful.
"We weren't. It wasn't." For all he knew, all his friends were dead. His family was dead, his kingdom. Everything was lost. "No one is here." He paused in his steps, turning around to look at Nyx, like he might find something in him that hadn't been there a second ago. What he was looking for, he didn't even know. "Stop calling me that. No one knows who I am here." It wasn't meant to be an implication that the knowledge should remain a secret. It was just a fact now.
Nyx paused a moment when Noctis had turned around to face him. He waited and listened intently. What was going on. What the hell happened while he had been dead? Did he actually die? He’d have to worry about that at a later date. His kind needed his attention much more than he knew. Lunafreya and Noctis never wed? What would cause that other than de-
Nyx’s eyes went wide as he internally connected the dots of what was going on in his King. The world he had known was devastated, and nothing ended as it was suppose to. It took a moment for all this to compile while Noctis was in front of him. More for later. Now, this young man, needed someone on his side. Someone to guide, and lift him back up to the rank he was suppose to accomplish. In time, Noctis would share everything that had happened, but if the darkness had won, and he had to flee to wherever this world was, then that is just the way it is for now.
“Noctis.” Nyx used his name, to drive the personal attachment. “I’m going to say this once, and only the one time.” He looked down to gather his thoughts. “I am Nyx Ulric, from Galahd. I had sworn an oath to the crown. That was your father, and that is now you.” The Kingsglaive looked to his king in the eye. “Regardless if we are in the Crown City, or in this strange land, I swear to serve you till my last breath. Regardless of the path it leads.” Nyx sighed softly. “On that path, I will do my best to guide, and offer my advice where you need or request.” Slowly he shook his head. “But one thing I will never tolerate, is turning your back at your lineage. You are strong, you are powerful, even if you do not see it now.” Slowly Nyx smiled. “I’ll just be behind you, to remind you of those things, when you need reminding.”
Nyx held out his arm as in to have his king lead the way. “So what is first on your agenda this morning, Your Majesty?”
Being stubborn wasn't likely to get him far with this line of conversation, but there was a slight release in the pressure when Nyx finally seemed to get it. Well, part of it, the parts that Noctis didn't care to think about but would undoubtedly keep creeping into his head until he'd totally sorted himself out. It was hard to accomplish that, and it still felt like a wonder that he'd held onto his strength to fight as long as he had. It wasn't hard to imagine multiple instances where he could have just left, and had he not had anyone with him, he likely would have. He'd been announced dead, it wouldn't have been too difficult to throw away the burden.
Yet, deep down, he knew it was his and no one else's. It ran through his body like a warm lick just below the skin and no matter how much he tried to ignore it, no matter how many odd jobs or driving lessons or quiet nights were managed under the stars, it didn't change anything. Even here, he felt the strange sensation for more. Listening had felt like the right thing to do, and even if Noctis didn't really believe there was a point to any of it now, the words held some thread of truth to them.
"Were you this persistent in joining my father's ranks?" It would have made sense. Men and women had to be strong willed to protect and serve, and normally his father's men showed him little mercy in training. It had been good for him, and he wanted to see the good of this situation, but it wasn't quite coming to him yet. So, he just exhaled, a bit more heavily than was really needed, as he turned to find his previous path. "Fishing. You get a fair amount here from the taverns." He didn't quite need the money, exactly, but it was an excuse to do something that didn't involve sitting around and moping for the entire day, slipping away from Prompto's varying degrees of stares hadn't hurt when he had similar questions that Noctis had no real answers for.
“I didn’t have to be persistent in joining, we were taken with arms wide open. I just felt, I had to serve to show my gratitude to the crown.” Nyx followed. “The weak need protectors. The innocent need heroes.” The man sighed softly. “Those who can not fight, need those willing to sacrifice to protect.” And with that, Nyx fell in step behind his new king.
Fishing? That was an, odd thing to be doing, but Nyx accepted it all the same. Regardless of what this place had to hold, he would follow for now. The glorified bodyguard, felt tight, so a relaxing time would be good. The king could fish, while Nyx could get the bearing of his abilities and where he stood with them. Fire, lighting, and teleporting. Make sure his arsenal was as solid as he could make it.
Sidestepping the questions he had about back home, Nyx went on this place here. “Where are we? Everdale? What else do I know? Did their leadership take you… us in? What is the leadership?” These are all tactically important questions. “Where are you living? Stay?” Nyx’s stomach growled. “Eating?” Also equally important question. When was the last time he ate? This place was weird, and so very confusing. Nyx instinctively couldn’t help but think back to the biggest question he had. How was he alive again, and could others be brought back? Crowe? Lunafreya?
His sister?
"You do realize you just told me how strong I am then just said the weak need protectors, which is what you're insisting on doing, right?" If there was one thing Noctis had heard his whole life, was something along the same line. He knew what he was supposed to do, but maybe he'd just been too naive to think it would ever actually come to light. He never expected the kingdom to fall or Luna to actually die for him, before he even really got to meet with her, speak to her. Life was crazily cruel in some aspects, but he knew what it meant to be a King. He only wished now that he'd been more keen on expressing interest in his father's wisdom.
"Everdale." He admitted easily, as talking about Preya felt infinitely more simple than fending off questions of a man who...died? Was that even possible? Noctis himself hadn't, really, but then again, he had known that waking would have meant that he did. He hadn't had all of those conversations just yet. "There's a King here. The Ruler. The way I understand it, people chose to come, and they can't leave. Ever."
He was steadily learning to realize that Nyx was going to potentially be talking all day, though, at least Noctis hoped it wouldn't come to backhanded comments about fish. As the sound of water fell on his ears, Noctis couldn't help but relax. "You're welcome to eat the fish." He offered, carefully stepping close to the spot he knew would have decent footing as well as a calm enough section of water for the fish. "I've been staying in Ravenmoore the past few days." He held out a hand to summon his pole before gripping it tight. "It's different...but the closest I've found to Insomnia."
Nyx just stared at the king. Did he seriously take him in the literal sense. He wanted to give him a good smack in the back of the head. “I’m not talking the people who cannot protect themselves. You need to protect the weak, and be ready to send the people like me into combat, even if we do not return.” Nyx was thoroughly unamused. “I know you’re not stupid, and I know you knew what I meant. Please do not insult my own intelligence, with feigning your own unintelligence.” As much as he loved the young king, he was going to still call him on his bullshit. The king was young, and needed to learn how to stand on his own two feet in leadership.
Now that they were they were going to do the fishing, he let Noct walk to where he was going to do his fishing. Everdale sounded interesting enough, and reminded him of his hometown. The quaint sounds of the wild and the people. The fact there was a ruler of some kind. He’d have to send his thanks for granting Noctis refuge in this place. This ruler wasn’t making any friends with the Empire, so he should at least show gratitude to this place for that.
“You catch the fish, I’ll fry em up.” Nyx said setting what possessions he had now down. From this point, Nyx was going to loosen himself up. Removing the battle armor and drawing his pair of kukri and started going about exercises and training regiment of the kingsglaive. Through this time, he’d test his limitations on his magic. Lighting, fire, and ice damaging a nearby rock. Throwing his kukris around to teleport about the land near Noctis. Through this whole time keeping an eye on what Noctis was doing, and where he was going.
Noctis knew too well what Nyx had meant, and clearly he didn't handle subtle jabs in stride. He probably could have exepcted that much. Those who had served closely to his father had certainly taken on the more serious aspect than those who followed him around. He gave a noncommital sound, deciding against talking about it all too much. It seemed his duty wasn't going to let him run forever, if only in a completely different way.
"Sounds good to me." So, he focused on the fish, and let his thoughts drift away again with the water. Casting and reeling was mindless enough that he could do it on auto. The fish were never anything to feel impressed by, but they were standard meal fish, and that was all that mattered. Other than moving to a different point on the river, he was content to stay there a while, listening to the sounds of Nyx, training he assumed, in the background. Even that was familiar, and the idea that he should possibly question how he was using some of the magic that Noctis knew by heart thankfully slipped his mind.
It was only after enough time had passed, his pile was decent enough and his breakfast felt like it was wearing thin, that he decided the last reel of the day was here. Knowing that he'd been feeding more than just himself, the amount of fish wasn't overly substantial, but selling wasn't even that big of a deal. He was nearly tempted to just take the rest with him for later, but wasn't sure how traveling with them would do. Either way, he'd let Nyx have his fill, so, after securing them with a string and small knife he'd brought along, he hefted them up and started back across the rocks toward the softer grassy area. "Having fun over there?"
Nyx didn’t follow the king around the land as he fished. If he attempted to really go from his line of sight, he’d of followed, but when it came to things like this, this wasn’t his first security detail. Then his heart panged for the death of Lunafreya. Would she be still living if he was there? Quickly Nyx quashed the doubts in his mind about the decisions he made. As a man and a soldier, you made decisions and accepted the outcome, no matter how terrible.
Sometimes people died because of it.
When he looked up from his training session, he nodded slightly. “I feel incredibly tense.” He shrugged. “It feels like I have used my muscles and body in forever.” The thought processed slowly. “I don’t know how long I’ve been dead, and I’ve never been brought back…” Slowly Nyx looked at Noctis. “This is all incredibly new to me, so I don’t know what to do with it.” Holding a fireball in his hand he stared at it. “I’m not entirely sure how I am using magic. I’m not sure if it’s residual from when I put the ring on, or if I’m getting it from you.” Quickly Nyx let the fire disapate from his hand. “Things are very new to me.”
Regardless, with the rope of fish, Nyx put his kukris away into their sheathes and got his items together. “Well, I suppose it’s that time. Where to, my liege?”
Time did feel like it held some sort of strange difference here. How long had Noctis been inside the crystal? He hardly knew, the year seemed into the distant future here, thousands of years. Seeing anything on his phone or the papers still left him feeling incredibly disconnected. “It’s been at least a month, but it could be years. It’s all different here.” He gave a small nod. He’d never really been brought back himself, nor did he expect to come here, it had felt like a far off dream thinking about the offer now.
“You wore my father’s ring.” He turned slightly, as if to hide his own hand from view, if only momentarily. People just...didn’t wear the ring. The fact that Nyx was seemingly whole and still using magic meant something, certainly, though what the proper influence was, he wasn’t sure. That was something he couldn’t tell the man. He supposed time would tell, though, if the powers waned or continued. “I don’t know.”
“I have camp that way. There’s wood gathered for fire and a couple chairs.” He gave a small nod. “You’re welcome there.” He started back along the way he’d originally been coming from. “The animals here are different, though, I guess you’ll get used to them soon enough.” He looked back to make sure Nyx was following. “Have you checked for money? I could get us a room in Ravenmoore, a good night’s sleep and a bath might do you well, it always helped us when we felt rough on the road.” He looked forward again, considering. “I could call Prompto, as well.”
Everything was different. Fuck. That was all the guard could think. Fuck. How long had he been gone, and dust in the wind? Literally. The place being as new as it was, Nyx wasn’t sure what he was going to do with it. He hadn’t checked to see what gear he had in his goodie bag, and wasn't sure what he had to use in his help to keep the King safe. At least he had weapons.
The Kingsglaive paused in his tracks and looked to Noctis. “I did. It was sort of last ditch effort. I watched it burn two people up actually, and they almost, being the Kings of Old, almost burned me up.” Sheepish, Nyx rubbed the back of his head. “I might of called them out on their bullshit, while I was trying to save the city. I told them, I had no desire for their power. Which I still don’t. Your highness, my life is nothing.” Nyx started stepping closer to the king. “Giving the future to those who want to see it is everything.” And that was what he told the Kings of Old, before they gave him the power to fight the Empire. “I died that morning, as the sun came up, and I would do it all again. No hesitation.”
As the continued he couldn’t help but think of what King Regis had said while he was being weighed. “I appreciate the consideration, your highness, but I am at ease where ever. Just full disclosure, being in the wild, especially at night, I’m not going far.” But then Prompto was mentioned. “Your childhood friend? The weird blonde one, right?”
“That’s how it normally happens.” Noctis admitted, to those who tried to wear the King’s ring. Still, it had to say something, that no matter their motives, they had shared that power and responsibility with Nyx. “If your’s is, then neither is mine.” He offered, looking somewhat thoughtful for a moment. Really, since he’d been born, or at least some of his earliest memories, he was only the prince, the chosen one, whatever it was called given the conversation. Had it been anyone else born into the role, it didn’t matter, it would be done. “You have more resolve than I do.”
“You say that, but I bet you’d spend an hour in there.” He joked, coming up on the sprinter van he’d bought soon after. His camp wasn’t much more than a pile of wood, a cooler, and a chair set out at the moment, but he’d known he’d drive back toward one of the main town areas to take the fish. Setting up a tent hadn’t been a priority when he could sleep nearly anywhere. “That’s the one...with hair that looks like a chocobo’s butt.” He smiled a bit at the thought as he dropped the fish into the cooler without much care, they were already dead, anyway.
Fishing the keys out of his pocket, he went about unlocking the van and pulling out a spare chair he’d purchased. If there was one comfort in Preya, it was finding the same brand as everything they had bought before. He figured if Nyx was going to insist on following him around, he might need to invest in more gear, at least until it all settled and the man found something more important to do than following around a former King. He looked up as he pulled the chair loose, and let it drop on the ground before sitting to pull out his phone. “All I have is bottled water, but you’re welcome to them.”
Well, Nyx was glad the normal didn’t happen to him. That he was able to become that special case in where the Kings didn’t just light him up to a crisp. Well, he supposed they did ultimately get their last laugh on that. He did blow away in the wind after all.
Glancing around the camp, it was… quaint. Not that Nyx would judge. He been in the wild with less, so this was much closer to home feeling than he’d of imagined, despite his thoughts of it not being very… kingly, but the young king had shown, he was not going to be the traditional king after all. A more hands on king? Nyx could appreciate that, as long as he kept himself smart about it. Slowly, the Kingsglaive would have to encourage his king to use his soldiers more willingly. More appropriately. That part came with training, age, and most of all… time.
When the chair was placed, Nyx bypassed it. He set the bag down he had and went through it. Just clothes, and his uniform. That’s good. Something to wear other than his battle gear. That part was comfortable sounding. “Chocobo butt.” Nyx repeated with a grin. “I think that’s what I’ll call him from now on.” Then he glanced. “Are there any chocobos in this area you know?” Trying to keep casual chat casual. How did you talk with a king? Or more appropriate, a young king? Nyx was hopeless. He wished he had Crowe around at least.
As if Nyx read Noctis’ mind he spoke changing out of his battle gear. “You do know this, isn’t going to be a one time thing. I’m not just guarding you and prancing on my way.” Nyx stood securing his clothes in a presentable fashion. “You’re stuck with me. For better or for worse.” The man smiled. “I will be sure to avoid cramping your style.” Sure in the start, Nyx might be overly protective, but as he figured out the lay of the land, it’d be easy for him to not be as cautious or even paranoid. Soon enough, even when he was going about his duties, he might be able to avoid being seen by the king all together. Nyx shimmied over where the water was, took one, and then found his spot that he was going to stand post. Habits didn’t break easy, even with being dead for awhile.
“Not that I’m aware of.” It was unfortunate, since the birds could easily be a big help. “They’ve got horses, which are similar, but seem way more skittish. I bought one, but sold it pretty fast.” Noctis considered his first few days which had involved the animal, but really, the car suited him better, and the van had been cheap since apparently whoever had owned it up and vanished. Noctis wasn’t entirely sure what to make of that knowledge, when he didn’t have the whole story. It was big enough, even if it wasn’t the easiest thing to drive and favored feeling top heavy compared to his father’s car.
Looking up from his texts, he considered Nyx’s words for a moment while he leaned back and looked up at the sky. “I’m still not sure why you’re guarding me to begin with. I’m fine.” It wasn’t like before, when people thought he was dead, or even when just saying his name came with expectations for saving the Kingdom. Still, he probably couldn’t just tell him to go away. He’d had guards his whole life, and even if habits could die, he figured that was one that would linger. That didn’t mean he had to overly enjoy it. Nyx could say all he wanted about the bloodline or his duty, but Noctis still wasn’t sure that held up. This place already had a Ruler, one that people seemed to be a bit undecided on, sure, but that was anyone. Even his father had some who didn’t always approve of his choices.
Shifting, Noctis checked his phone again before nodding. “Once we eat, I’ll head to down and get rid of whatever’s left then we can head to Ravenmoore. Prompto called in a reservation.” He stood, heading for the back of the van again, digging out what he’d need to start preparing some of the fish. Ignis certainly had been helpful in that sense. “You start the fire.”
There was a lot that would change while in this strange place. Nyx knew that. Nyx even accepted that. It was just built in him though. He died for this crown, and now he had one still alive and in his grasp essentially, so Nyx was going to do his duty he set out with… protect the royal family. Libertus would just make fun of him for this. Something something fuck the royal crown.
There was a shrug ultimately. “I’m not sure why you’re complaining.” Nyx countered. “You can use friends.” Of course, the bodyguard was using the term loosely. He was taught by the Captain that he was a soldier not a friend… but his captain also was a traitorous bastard… so maybe he’d blur that line. He looked right at Noctis with an internal confused notion. What if he was right, this place didn’t need the likes of him? Then why bring him back? Why have him here and found by the young king. What purpose did he server now.
Being brought back to reality, Nyx went into action. “Yes, sir.” With the speed of a proficient soldier, he set the wood up for the fire. Standard formation of wood, to give them the best fire to cook over. With fire starting kit, he lit the logs coaxing them to burn with kindling. Once the fire was going, he just looked off some. “Well. Let’s eat. You gotta show me around, and we have to pick up Choco Butt after all.” He’d have to swat Prompto for letting the king travel alone. How careless.
