The fey cat was most amenable to the attention, and a purr like a motor engine soon began rumbling out of his throat as he closed his eyes.
"Yes, people here have very strange gendered expectations around language," Caleb agreed. He stayed put, for now, leaned up against the post. "I have been told that the correct term for a lady who is also a wizard is 'witch' and not, in fact, wizard. At the Academy everyone was referred to as a wizard. Here, there are different words for everything based on gender. Very strange."
But that was neither here nor there, really, but Caleb and Beau had never been known for their comfortable, easy talks with each other. He could feel the familiar awkwardness in the air.
