Susan was still adjusting to having Peter around again - and having him as a teenager - but she had begun to settle again as they fell into a sort of routine. She'd managed to get him enrolled in classes and had stocked up on their food, but even while she was at work she'd had to force herself not to think about him being at school and alive again. It was too strange, and too distracting.
Thursdays and Saturdays were her standard day off, so after Peter left that morning, Susan had cleaned and gone out for a little shopping of her own, before returning to the flat to make sandwiches for their dinner. Having lived in London for so long, she was used to making food stretch and creating simple meals, and it carried over here to Summerbridge. Susan put the sandwiches in the refrigerator and then went to her room to change, coming out several minutes later when she heard Peter come home.
"Be right there," she called, pulling on a light gray jacket since it was cooler out thanks to that morning's rain, then walking back out and to the kitchen so she could smile at her brother. "Welcome home, Peter. How was school, aside from mathematics?"
