Richard had driven his Jag saloon from his estate in Summerbridge to Ravenmoore. It was paperwork day at the office, and time to compare progress reports against the actual contractor's work at the various remodeling projects he had going on in the neighborhood. The first thing he did, though, was run off a 'Help Wanted' sign on the computer and put it up in the front window. Advertising on the local social network had been less than fruitful; maybe somebody from the neighborhood would be interested in picking up some part-time office work. There were phones to answer, the usual reams of official paperwork to file, bills and rent checks to process, pay, and deposit.
Then there was the thought of putting on some regular staff at his estate. He did have a few of the locals from Everdale coming in a few days of the week to tend to the horses and grounds, and his house more or less cleaned itself, but having somebody or somebodies around full time would probably be a better solution to that problem.
Not to mention the little projects he had going for the Police Department. And brooms for Quidditch and racing. A workshop assistant might be a good idea - if he didn't just break down and open a small magic works company, in which case he would need somebody to run it and more somebodies to do the wand work once he had worked out the Arithmancy for whatever he decided to sell... if he did decide. He was still undecided. And the armor he had done for Lirael. She had never responded to his letter, so he was considering giving it to someone else, probably somebody associated with the law enforcement. It had been based on the gear he had built for Selene and Natasha, and then for Krissy Chambers, so that might be the best solution.
With a sigh, he gathered up the stack of documents from his in box, hoping there would at least be a few interruptions to keep him from having to spend his entire day shuffling paper.
