"Ish is doing a great deal of work there." He commented dryly. They had started existence in wildly different places. Crowley had been human once, the closest Michael had ever come to human was when he was in a vessel and even then they didn't change his behavior much. Sure, he'd picked up phrases and references and other things that allowed him to blend in if he ever needed that, but most of him was as it had been in heaven, even after his time in the cage. Humans tended to chafe and get anxious when they were stared at, for Michael it barely registered. Out of billions of angels, more than a few were like Castiel, prone to prolonged staring. He was used to it.
At the mention of the other archangels, Michael snorted softly. "Not many can claim that. A testament to your charm, or cleverness."
Or more likely how all four of them had failed their charge in different ways. Michael had made himself weak in the cage, both in mind and grace. Lucifer had failed long before he'd cast off the name their father had bestowed upon him, and then again later when Crowley had obviously turned on him. Raphael, Michael wasn't wholly sure what had happened there but Raphael had gotten himself killed and it somehow involved the Winchesters. Gabriel just didn't care, he was too happy to lose himself in his pagans and demons and ignore their Father's will entirely.
It was pitiful.
"Should I offer you my sympathy? Or should I remind you that Dr. Spock and his books were not available to me at the time that I was raising them, so I simply did the best I could with what I knew, which was nothing." They didn't age, they had all been created as they were, but in the early days it had been Michael who kept watch over his brothers, he'd been charged with their care when their Father turned his attention to the rest of creation. He'd often wondered if he'd given Lucifer more of the care and attention he needed that his brother wouldn't have let himself be corrupted, or if he hadn't been so focused on Lucifer, that Gabriel might have stayed. As always, he would claim he wasn't created with the ability to feel guilt and simply say it was a part of their Father's plan.
