He wasn't prepared to see Rocket like that. The initial tears of joy were one thing, a shared emotion between the two upon their reunion. These tears, though, they were different. They held a distinct sadness and Groot had trouble keeping himself composed as he watched the other man get emotional. Before he could say another word, and he still didn't know what he was going to say (just thought he would open his mouth and hope for the best), the waiter had returned.
Two hot cups of chocolate were placed on the table and Groot pushed through a smile and thanked him. "If I'd have known we were going to cry like bitches, I'd have slipped a flask of something for you to put in your cocoa." Of course Groot would not know anything about doing something like that, but it was a joke he hoped would lift the mood. His potty mouth hadn't changed a bit, although it was more profound since his vocal chords could now carry more than three words. That was the benefit of being human.
The beverage was filled to the very rim and, not wanting to risk spillage by picking it up, Groot left the drink on the table. Instead, he leaned down and slurped some of the top portion of the drink, including the bit of whipped cream that was decorating the top. He wiped the cream from his lip when he sat back up, but he was grinning this time. A genuine grin. "That's solid right there."
