"Yeah, a human house. It was pretty weird, but Peter seemed happy. So I grew to love it," Groot laughed, rolling his eyes. "It's weird being human, just to warn you. It really takes some getting used to. It's a relief, though, being able to talk again... being able to talk more with, y'know, vocal chords that aren't wood."
Groot looked down as Rocket's hand covered his, and he smiled a bit, even though an obvious sadness took over his eyes. "I was hoping we could buy time to beat him," Groot said quietly, casting his eyes on the table once more as he brought up the worst person to ever bring up at a happy reunion. "I was near to the point of fading into nothing when I was taken here. I didn't think it would mean living without you... I'm sorry I didn't take you with me when I left. I didn't know that I couldn't..."
He squeezed Rocket's hand and forced through a smile, although the idea of Thanos was still in the back of his mind. Always seemed to be that way these days. "What did you do... you know... in all that time?"
