"I know! I'm hideous!" Rocket answered, even as his face tried to make the kind of annoyed, put upon expressions his raccoon face used to do. Except in this body it just made his face look weird, like he'd forgotten how to human.
It would look even weirder later, when he tried to eat and couldn't figure out the shape and dimensions of his mouth.
"I could eat," Rocket replied, nodding his head a few times. His stomach growled loudly in agreement. He followed Groot into the booth, his wet clothes squelching as he did. He carefully leaned his backpack against the far end of the booth and sat across from Groot, darting glances at the boy. His human form would take some getting used to, but all joking aside Groot felt a displaced sense of pride that his boy was pretty damn cute. For a human, anyway.
"You did? What kind of ship is it? Is she fast?" he asked, assuming they'd moved into a ship, like back home. He'd better be taking care of you! "Yeah, they answered my post on the local network. Archaic thing.
He regaled Groot with a strange, crooked smile. He really needed to get the hang of this form soon. But it was sincere. He was glad to hear Groot still had his appetite. "Good! You're growing. You need to keep up your caloric intake."
