When Rocket spoke, Groot's hold on him tightened. He considered all of the guardians his family, especially Quill who had been a father to him during his weeks in Preya. However, he had a special bond with Rocket that made this reunion particularly emotional for Groot. A reserved teenager who would hide behind a screen, it was rarity to witness such emotion from him, and he had trouble pulling himself together.
The other few patrons in the cafe stared in wonder, questions on their faces, but Groot forgot they were there. He forgot where he was, and it took him a few more moments to gather his senses. He pulled away just enough to look up at Rocket, smirking a bit. "Knew it was you 'cause you smell like wet dog," He teased as best as he could through his wobbly voice. "I'm really glad you're here."
