Steve appreciated the company, and he certainly appreciated the calming effect of the ambiance. He supposed anywhere humans gathered for food and chatter could be a place he came to like, but there was something about a New York style diner that made him smile. He would have been proper moved had he known Peter was making a special effort for him.
"It sure seems that way. I, for one, am glad. Not to get maudlin, but I've had my fill of fighting," he said with a smile.
A perfectly lovely young woman in a colorful Pacific Islander design headscarf brought a coffee pot when she came by to take their order. Steve turned his cup over, glad for some fresh java. He got the cheddar cheeseburger with curly fries and pickles when it was his turn.
"And an extra order of tater tots, please," Steve tagged on at the end. He grinned at Peter as the waitress moved away. "I was going to steal some of yours."
