"Deep fried mystery potatoes? They're terrible for you," Steve deadpanned. "I love them."
He grinned at the boy as they went to cross the street and, of course, Steve looked both ways before moving forward. Soon they were inside and seated in a comfortable booth.
It was unfortunate that they'd fought, and Steve didn't expect Peter to understand that they'd had to take sides as a matter of principle. Although if the kid was curious he might have found out by now there was more to the story than he'd been told. The fact that he was sitting here with Steve pointed to yes.
In any case, Steve wasn't trying to compete for Peter's friendship here. He knew the boy idolized Tony Stark, and he had good reasons to. Still, after the dust had settled, they all eventually had to come together for the greater good. He just wanted to let the boy know that there were no hard feelings, and he knew for a fact Bucky intended to reach out to him, having both died at Thanos' hand before reappearing here. For all he knew Bucky had already reached out to the boy.
"So, tell me all about Preya. I'm still getting settled, but I've met all kinds of good, helpful people."
