Steve's smile grew at the innocent question from Peter. This was definitely a kid after his own heart. "I'm not sure if it's a military as we know it, but they do have armed police forces, and soldiers, last I heard."
Steve took in the handshake with approval in his eyes. "Peter it is," Steve replied. He shouldn't be surprised. He had seen how strong Peter was when they had faced each other in battle that one time. Then added, "I'm still gonna slip and call you kid once in a while. Fair warning."
With the little grin and the pink in his cheeks, it was all Steve could do not to ruffle the boy's hair. "Say, are you busy? You could show me that diner you mentioned the other day, if you're not. I was kinda running late this morning and haven't had breakfast yet." Again. Because Bucky's new favorite sport was making Steve late for things, apparently. Oh, who was he kidding? He was loving every minute of it.
"So, how are things, Peter? You wrote you have a girl? How's that going?" Nosy Steve was nosy, which was par for the course. Apparently there was something in Preya's water that made #DADDING a moral imperative in all adult males with any acquaintance of a certain age difference. Or something.
