Bucky offering to kick his ass was so perfectly in character that Steve couldn't help but beam at his friend, his shoulders shaking with silent laughter. The tears kept flowing, but these were very happy tears now. After releasing all the terror and the grief of the last several months, all that remained was a giddy sentimentality that Steve gladly wallowed in as Bucky said all the right things.
"We're finally here," he repeated, smiling so wide it hurt. Steve held on to Bucky and threw his head back with an uncharacteristic whoop of joy. It was a sound that had not been heard since the Brooklyn Dodgers won their first pennant back in 1941.
"You don't have permission to go anywhere. Permission denied. Forever," he said, affecting a serious face that was ruined by the way his lips kept pulling into a smile. His eyes said never let me go. His face softened with Bucky's declaration, but once again he got blissfully interrupted by the man's lips when he went to say it back. So he showed Bucky how much he loved him instead, returning the kiss.
The kids from before started clapping and trash talking among themselves. Steve's enhanced hearing picked up a word or three, as they went on about getting a room, enjoying the view and so on and so forth. It was so liberating, not caring about who saw them, that Steve couldn't bring himself to mind. Besides, they could go stuff themselves. The kiss was too good to cut short until they actually needed to come up for air.
"I can always eat, as you well know," he replied in a dreamy voice. He smiled and pushed Bucky's hair away from his face. "I think we've had enough dates, buddy. Maybe we should stop corrupting the local youth and... order in," Steve added, his voice dropping to a more intimate tone. He wasn't subtle, but with Bucky he didn't have to be. He also wasn't exactly putting the moves on Bucky. That wasn't his style. But what he did want was alone time with the love of his life, just to be together, uninterrupted for once. If that led to other things, well... Steve was here for it, as the kids say.
