"Sometimes I feel like it's got a mind of its own," Tonks replied about the wand. It was a flighty thing in all honesty. And perhaps to the regular person it might have sounded strange to be talking about a wand in that fashion, but Tonks considered her wand to be almost sentient, like a person all of its own. She couldn't explain it. She only knew that it had a mind and a soul inside that slender, sleek body, and some days she wasn't sure if it was trying to help her or sabotage her. Perhaps a little of both.
The fire was doing its job of keeping them warm for the time being, but Tonks knew she couldn't hold onto it forever. They would eventually need to sleep, and she would have to put it down somewhere or make a proper fire. Would that even be enough to keep them warm though? She grinned when Hina sidled up beside her, watching the wonder in her eyes as she touched the flames. She had to admit that even she got that look in her eye sometimes when she was taught some new magic. Still, it was very much a part of her life by now in that ordinary things like this didn't elicit much of a reaction out of her. So, it was nice to see the pure wonder and awe in the face of someone who was witnessing magic for the very first time.
"Must seem strange to you," she commented lightly, "seeing magic and all that so freely." She knew a bit about what it was like to be a Muggle from her grandparents. Even they were pretty much used to it by now with their son being a wizard for so many years already, but it helped her be just a tad bit more considerate when it came to Muggles and magic. "A heater? Would we need 'lecktricity for that?" Did her grandparents own a portable heater? She had never seen one. Somehow it was always nice and warm in their house during the winter months, a bit of Muggle magic she presumed despite the irony of that. She couldn't help the giggle that sprang from her lips though when Hina mentioned body heat, and her body seemed to automatically understand that meant to get closer to her.
With the fire between them, Tonks tugged Hina toward her, making sure the flames never got near clothing or hair or anything of the sort. She could be careful when she really wanted to be. "This alright?" She shivered just a bit and scooted even closer to remedy that chill, putting their foreheads practically together. They had combined their sleeping bags for an extra layer of warmth and that meant that certain parts of their bodies were pressed up against each other. They were so close that Tonks could feel Hina's breath dancing on her cheeks, and she found that it was a lovely feeling indeed. "Got any more expert Muggle advice on how to survive the cold then," Tonks asked with a smirk.
