Rose Tyler & OPEN Saturday When Rose did things, she tended to go all in, so when she headed out to Brightford to watch the parade, she was decked out as the parade's namesake in a blue bra top decorated with seashells and fishnet and a gold mermaid skirt. She also donned a long blonde wig for the occasion (because who ever heard of a mermaid with short hair?), a wild mass of curls and plaits, strewn with shells and fake pearls. The overall effect fell somewhere between Daryl Hannah in Splash and Disney's The Little Mermaid and it was something she would never have been allowed to wear in public while she was still the Vitex heiress. She reveled in the freedom to be as outrageous and ridiculous as she wanted, not having to worry that her behaviour would reflect badly on her father's company or on Torchwood.
The carnival was calling her name, though Rose was in no hurry to get there. She wandered leisurely through the crowd of spectators, soaking up the good mood and stopping frequently to chat with others about their costumes.
Sunday Between her morning horseback riding class and the Mermaid Parade, Rose had had a long day the day before so she didn't wake until well after 11. Sleeping in was a luxury that she had too little chance to indulge in and she was half-tempted to just roll over and sleep through the afternoon but the pull of going to her first proper music festival, one belonging to the same time as she did instead a temporally-mismatched visit with the Doctor, was enough to rouse her from bed.
She chose a low-key outfit: a flowing off-the-shoulder top, denim shorts, and boots topped off with the obligatory floppy hat. She didn't have any specific plans for the day beyond dancing and generally just losing herself in the music.
