Who: Tonks and Hina What: Decorating for Christmas Where: Their flat When: During the day Rating: Low Status: In Progress
Christmas time was by far Tonks's favorite time of the year -- apart from her birthday of course. She absolutely loved the colors, the decorations, the sights and sounds all around her and the crisp, clean air that winter brought with it. It was about the best time to take a trip down to Hogsmeade, if only to muck about in the snow and have floating snowball fights in the streets. And once the hols actually rolled in, she got to go home and visit her parents and Muggle grandparents, who made sure to shower her with presents even though she was a teenager now and no longer a child. But Christmas wasn't about being a child, it was about pure joy and happiness.
Tonks sighed as she waved her wand about lazily, some ornaments flying all about and making their way toward the pine tree she'd bought just to decorate on her own, but this year's Christmas was different. Sure she had her mum here (in some sense of the word anyway), and she had Hina, whom she considered to be a good friend. But it just wasn't the same. And once again she was reminded of the stupid decision she'd made in coming here. Although she got to meet certain people and got to know them in special ways, she missed her old life. She missed the smell of her dorm and the feeling of old books in her hands. She missed Hogwarts terribly, and nothing in the whole world could make up for that.
Still, she tried to put on a brave face, as she had asked Hina to help her with the decor even if she was sure she could do it all herself with magic. That wasn't the point. The point was having a friend there with her to keep the loneliness monsters at bay. That was, after all, the whole point of the holidays, to celebrate togetherness, wasn't it? She glanced over at Hina with a smile gliding over her face, distracted by the way the other girl went about setting things up. Of course, that meant she wasn't paying attention to her magic and all her ornaments were heading in the wrong direction. It only dawned on her when she heard a distinct crash and she gasped and stopped everything in mid-air suddenly. "Hopping Helga, am I a real klutz."
