There was a bright smile on Eli's face. The crane pose would be challenging, but fun. As he went to get a drink, Eli went into position.
"It's easy. We'll start with preparation first." With his feet on the ground, he squatted down so his hands were grabbing his heels and his head was tucked by his knees. "This is a good way to stretch. Because after this, I'll go into baby crane."
After a minute, he then stood up and took a deep breath. He lowered himself again, but laid his forearms on the mat, with his palms on the ground. He lifted his legs up, making sure to focus his weight on his arms. After a few seconds, he lowered himself.
"Okay, I'm ready. Here we go!" After going back to his original pose, he bent down at the waist, keeping his hands shoulder-width apart, and planted them firmly on the mat. He bent his elbows as he got on his tip-toes, his knees going towards his armpits. He shifted forward, concentrating on his breathing. After a few seconds he lifted one foot, then the other. He took five slow, deep breaths, then lowered his feet down again.
"See? It's about centering on your core and shifting your weight forward. Think you can do this?"
