"Oh, child..." Selene sighed and glanced over at the young woman. "Your scent, a hint of young were. Just not one I am familiar with."
She raised one hand in a placating gesture. "Not that it makes any difference to me as far as getting you home safely. All part of the job, no matter whoever, or whatever you might be."
She flashed a quick smile, and shrugged a little as they walked along. "Although I do admit you remind me of my daughter when she was younger. She is part werewolf from her father's side of the family."
"And you can relax a little. I won't hurt you. Most creatures of the night know not to bother me on my nightly patrols. Those who don't soon learn why that is one of the unwritten rules of this neighborhood. I tend to disagree with things that try to eat me."
