Blinking, Midoriya looked up as Todoroki successfully broke him out of his train of thought and used his quirk to freeze his ice cream again. "Oh! I suppose I should. Thank you," he remarked, bowing his head gratefully as he reached across and cradled the ice cream in his hands. He ate a few bites a bit quickly, as if to make up for lost time with it, then shook his head when his friend asked that question.
"I don't know. I don't know how we could even test that theory, either. Finding out where people go when they disappear. It's not like we can just follow them because as far as I can tell, no one knows who is going to disappear when they do." He took another few bites of his ice cream, smiling sheepishly. "Just like we never seem to know who's coming, either. I mean, I didn't know that you were coming when you did until I saw you write on the network thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're here! It just...it sounds like things went wrong or something happened back home though to bring you here and, well, I wonder if I'm responsible for it since I wasn't there. But you said I was...which is the weirdest thing..."
And he was off again, muttering beneath his breath as he kept trying to figure out a puzzle with only half the pieces of information they needed.
