In a way, Ken wondered just how much to share of his intentions with this place. Previous attempts with some hadn't quite went well, though, it was even hard to tell sometimes who wanted to stay and who stood where in terms of things. Now probably wasn't even the time to talk about that. "It's festive. Have you tried any of the food or games before you found yourself stuck?"
In a way, there seemed to be the logical invitation. Still, Ken wanted to believe that he held some tact, and really, anyone could be paying attention or overhear. "I suppose there's a lot I'd like to ask, but this might not be the time or place for it." He considered for a moment. "What made you decide to apply for the council position, Commander?" That might be enough, at least for now.
