Selene took the case folder and leafed quickly through it, pausing for no more than a few seconds for each page, for all appearances merely a cursory examination. But for a vampire who could move faster than most vampire eyes could see, it was the equivalent of a human spending hours in study, allowing her to memorize the entire file. Her face cold, she handed to folder back to Mycroft.
"I would suspect a new vampire in a feeding frenzy. Much blood was spilled, wasted, if you will. Also, the older female's neck was broken antemortem, typical of one unused to their newfound strength. In a case like this, I should be called in at the earliest possible moment, before the scent picture of the crime scene has been hopelessly muddled."
She sighed, met Mycroft's eyes with her own. "Has this matter been... handled. If so, good. I would inquire, though, as to how the perpetrator was disposed of. And the bodies of the family? The file does not say. You do realize that there is a chance one or more of them may come back as vampires themselves?"
