He hesitated for a moment as he watched Gilmore, searching his eyes and seeing the conflict, the pain, and the fear. A sadness filled him which, no doubt, was written all over his face. As good as he was at being a rogue, he was shit at hiding his feelings from those he cared about. Especially in these more intimate moments. With a sigh, he reached up and pressed a hand against the side of Gilmore's face, brushing the cheek with his thumb.
"Dearest Shaun," he said quietly -- just loud enough for him to hear. "I am sorry for all the trouble we've brought you." He offered him a small smile. "You might not want to be a hero, but you are far more a hero than any of us whether you like it or not. We'd have all been dead ten times over if it hadn't been for you and your talent, and I promise to keep you far away from whatever path the Raven Queen lays before me." He pulled his hand back and turned away from him. "You deserve a new life away from us and the danger we often find ourselves in."
He nodded thoughtfully. "I think something cooler would be," he chuckled softly, "a good way to start."
