Vax never knew the air could smell so sweet. Maybe it was because, as far as he'd seen, most of the places he'd travelled in Tal'Dorei were marred by the stench of death and regret. With the exception of, well, Zephyrus. Zephyrus had been a mix of hope and duty. Or maybe it was the magic that came with this place that made it smell so sweet. Wouldn't be the first time, of course.
He stood in the middle of a beach by the sea, his armor feeling heavy, and his leathers indeed quite bothersome. Despite himself, he fell to his knees and stared out into the foreign horizon that he knew he could not venture past. This, for better or worse, was his new home. As welcome as it was for a change, one devoid of death and pain, he couldn't help but feel the pangs of regret for leaving the ones he loved behind. Still, this had to be part of whatever divine plan he was to be a part of -- or the Raven Queen would not have allowed it. So, his duty still remained -- even if it was obscured by uncertainty and a fog of mystery.
Closing his eyes, he tilted his head back. He reached up and undid the clasp, letting his black cloak fall back onto the sand, and with a few more unfastening of clasps, his armor fell back leaving him in his leathers. But to feel the warmth of a foreign sun, a chance at something more than constant loss. Well, he couldn't help but smile. And when he opened his eyes, he got back to his feet -- and peeled off what remained and ran straight for the waters of the sea, feeling the cool ocean envelope his naked body.
For the moment, he let himself get lost at the possibility of a bright future. Even if, by day's end, it might mean otherwise.
