The first time Edwin met with Miss Black was a couple weeks ago. It was a rather emotionally surcharged conversation where Edwin described to her the events of World War II, the politics and significant battles that took place. He mentioned Captain America and the Fighting Commandos and HYDRA's involvement, and came to realize they didn't exist in her universe, which was understandable but still strange for Edwin to comprehend since he'd taken these things for granted.
D-Day. Hiroshima and Nagsaki. Hitler's suicide and the Nuremberg Trials. These were all topics that came up, making for an intense exchange that left Edwin emotionally exhausted. He hoped that today's meeting would be more pleasant.
When he mentioned at work that he was going to have tea with a woman whom he'd met over the internets, his fellow employees at the floral shop where he worked had an entirely different perception. Edwin had to adamantly correct them, because they imagined he was going to meet this woman for a date. He was happily married, thank you very much! Perhaps it was that thought in the back of his mind which made him feel strange, today?
In any case, he'd told Ana all about their meeting, so it wasn't that he was going behind his wife's back. It was a perfectly platonic gesture, and Edwin was determined not to even mention it to Miss Black, for fear of offending and disturbing the woman's genteel sensibilities.
There were a few things that Edwin had not changed since arriving to Preya, and one of them was his manner of dress. In an impeccably pressed three piece suit. He removed his fedora the moment he entered the tea shop and looked around for the woman he recognized in the photograph, and upon seeing her in the corner, stepped toward her.
"Good afternoon. Miss Black, I assume? Mr Jarvis. A pleasure to meet you. Mrs Jarvis sends her regards. She would've loved to have accompanied us, but regretfully she was a little set back." By that, Edwin meant to convey she wasn't feeling well.
