Victor was saying no, but his words were saying yes. Even if he hadn't meant to, Yuri had hurt him. Victor had even left everything to come here to try and find him. They were engaged. How much did Victor love him that he'd trade his home, his career, everything, on just a lead that he was probably here. And Yuri had left him...again. It was troubling, and really sad. He tried not to frown, though, because him being sad over things that he hadn't done yet seemed silly. Then again, he'd gotten really upset over smaller things.
He gave a weak sort of smile before it fell at the mention of Sochi. That had happened. He should remember that much. Yet, all he remembered was not wanting to speak with anyone and just finding a spot to drink instead of facing what happened. He'd woke in the hotel again, and just assumed he'd stumbled his way back, with or without help. He gave another small smile, a bit softer and less forced, though, nodding as he looked down, turning Victor's hand over in his a little bit to watch the gold catch the light for a moment.
"I'm sorry it's different." Had he put that there? He looked up again, taking a deep breath and finding some little extra resolve. "I wish I knew the things you remember." He stiffened a bit, not that it would really put him any closer to Victor's height, but he thought it'd be enough, coupled with giving the other skater's hand a squeeze. "We'll make new memories together." He turned a little. "I'll earn it all again so that you won't have to feel sad over me again." He smiled again, nodding before pulling away slightly. "But I really need to turn the katsudon before it burns..." He laughed, almost more air than sound as he did that and turned to get water for the sauce.
