Satya had imagined that a bookstore would be a very peaceful place to work. It was ordered, it was quiet, and there was knowledge all around. Not much could go wrong in a bookstore. Sure, there would be the occasional stupid question or two, but that was common in all jobs. She expected harmony and organization. She expected everything to be in its place.
What she didn't expect was Quantum Arcana.
Walking into the book store, she felt a shiver run up her spine. She had noticed Tristram at his desk, but she was more concerned with the books lying on the table and the picture or two that was not centered. How could he tolerate this?
"Hello," she said, her voice as warm and husky as the sunlight filtered through the drapes. "You must be Mr. Wells. It is a pleasure to meet you."
She couldn't leave things the way they were. As she walked over to his desk, she detoured and instead went to fix the pictures. She couldn't have them uneven. It would have bothered her too much.
