Ah, the smiles quickly faded and things became awkward, as they usually did when he encountered anyone from this party. It was not an inconvenience, but something he welcomed gladly. People still passed by, as it was a crowded festival and privacy was a rarity at things like these. Still, he waited a few more moments and rocked back on his heels as he waited for a few bystanders to get out of earshot. "Would have gotten something else, but the floral shop was limited in their selection. Roses and carnations were everywhere, classic but far too common for my taste," he replied in his sing-song tone with a seemingly innocent shrug of his shoulders. He gave a quick glance to John and he had to bite the inside of his cheek to stop himself from grinning any wider. "There were others, but they were harmful to pets..."
"You did a fantastic job out there, Sherlock, bravo," he said with a congratulatory (although very brief) round of applause. "I'll have to turn down the offer to have a match of our own. It's tempting, but I'd hate to stain this shirt as I only just bought it yesterday. That and I'd hate to lose an arm out there -- but I'm sure you'd add it to your collection of science."
