Azrael toasted with her, drank when she drank, and chuckled at her compliment. He was more than happy to listen to her talk too. She had such an interesting way of speaking and her perspective was fascinating. He waited until she was finished before joining in. After all, Death was patient. And Azrael was very patient. Besides, he saw no reason to interrupt her.
"Ah, see where I'm from we call that magic something else. We call it Essence" he said, wagging a finger in the way some people do when enthused about a conversation. "Essence runs through everything. Makes up everything. Kinda the magical lifeblood of the life, death, the universe and everything" he smiled, gesturing with his arms held out at either side as if highlighting his surroundings beyond the walls of the bar.
He relaxed again, picking up the glass of whiskey to take a small drink. "So... does that kinda make us family then?" he asked curiously. "I think that kinda makes us family too" he added. "I mean, if there's one constant, no matter the universe, it's Death. And we'll both be there to see it end and begin again" he added.
