backdated: sept 2005 Who: Ashleigh and Ollie What: carnival date! Where: NYC When: Sept 15 2005 Rating: Kinda R-ish. Open or Closed: Closed.
Ashleigh wasn't the type of girl that would go out with a boy just to prove a point but that was exactly what she'd been doing when she'd continuously agreed to go on date after date with one Ollie Roslinn. She very rarely accepted the offer of a third date but, in a desperate attempt at proving Dari wrong, she'd given the light haired boy with the charming smile another shot. The catch? The more she went out with him, the more she liked him and he earned the agreement to a fourth date all on his own.
There wasn't ever any telling where Ollie was going to take her when he came to pick her up, so she usually settled on something that could be both sexy and comfortable at the same time. Tonight, she'd settled on a short, blue jean skirt and a deep red top that showed a fair amount of her cleavage. She didn't usually dress so bold but her dorm mate/best friend had had a hand in picking her attire.
She was leaned into the mirror over her dresser, adding the finishing touches to her makeup, when she heard a knock at the door and she hastily applied lipstick to her lips before practically running to answer it.
"Hey," she greeted. "Do you want to come in or... are you ready to go?"
"Wow.. you look.. amazing," Ollie grinned at her as she answered the door. If she'd been going for sexy, she'd definitely accomplished that and Ollie couldn't help wondering why he'd wasted a second flirting with her roommate the day he'd met them both. The nerdy brunette wasn't nearly as attractive as the sexy, fun blonde in front of him, as far as he could see.
Ollie had asked her out he didn't know how many times before she'd finally agreed. He was nothing if not persistent, though, and she'd finally said yes. There'd been a lot of fun times - miniature golf, roller skating - he'd even taken her to a monster truck show - and he was sure tonight would be just as great.
"I'm ready when you are, babe," he drawled at her as he looked her over once more, taking the time to fully appreciate her outfit. Most people would be concerned with being on time, but not Ollie. He never really took a date somewhere that had a specific time requirement. Better to be spontaneous and let things go naturally, he thought.
Ashleigh had been grinning when she'd pulled the door open but her face lit up even more at his compliment. "Thank you," she answered, purposefully allowing her gaze to travel the length of him. "You're looking pretty amazing yourself." Which wasn't remotely a lie.
Ollie had definitely been persistent. If he hadn't been, they wouldn't have gone of the first date. He was an amazing guy, though, and now that she'd gotten to know him, she was quite glad that he'd not given up right away.
"Oh, I'm ready," she informed him, possibly a little too eagerly. "Let me just get my... keys." She was looking for the keys in question before she'd gotten the entire sentence out of her mouth. She looked over her dresser and her desk before catching a glimpse of her key ring poking out from under a few papers that had been discarded on her bedside table. "Ahh. That's where you're hiding," she muttered as she stooped enough to retrieve the keys without disturbing her carefully organized mess.
It was an understatement to say that Ashleigh was looking forward to their date. Ollie always took her to the most amazing, unusual places and they always had an unbelievable time. (Monster truck rally, anyone?) She might have invited anyone else in but, with this guy, she was quite ready to get started... to see what he had planned. "Alright," she grinned again as she turned to face him.
Ollie grinned just as brightly when she returned the compliment. He really liked this girl, more than any other girl he'd dated before, so he thinking he looked good? Definitely a good thing.
He nodded as she looked for her keys and he may have enjoyed the view a little more than he should when she had to bend over a little to retrieve them. Had he mentioned she was hot? Ollie thought she was, anyway.
He grinned again as she turned back to him and he grabbed her hand to pull her out of her dorm and out to his car. He actually remembered to be something of a gentleman, opening her door for her before moving around to his side of the car. A short drive later - filled with excited conversation about a party next weekend that she should definitely attend with him - and they were at the amusement park he'd decided to take her to for the day.
This was why Ashleigh liked him so much.
Ollie was fun. He didn't take her out to do normal date-like things. He took her rollerskating and miniature golfing. He was always so ... active. If he wasn't practically dragging her out of the dorm to his car, he was babbling ninety to nothing about... anything. Ollie was alive and being around him made her feel alive as well. Not to mention, he wasn't complicated or confusing. He liked her. He'd always liked her and she didn't have to worry about being hurt or losing him.
Ashleigh didn't notice if he checked out her rear end while she was getting her keys. If she had, she might have acted mildly offended but she certainly wouldn't have minded. There was something heady about knowing that a guy was attracted to you. She couldn't help laughing a little on the way to his car. He was always so... ready. She nodded and smiled as he talked about this party and how she should attend with him. While she didn't automatically agree, she didn't say no, either. Of course, by now, he'd probably learned that she'd call him within a day or two and give him her answer.
Once they arrived at the amusement park, her entire face lit up. Miniature golf. Rollerskating. Monster truck rally. Amusement park. Never a dull moment and... she kind of loved it.
After he parked, Ashleigh jumped out of the car, not giving him the chance to open the door for her.
"Ollie!" she exclaimed in a semi-accusing tone. "You always.. you know you're amazing, right?"
It was safe to assume that she definitely approved.
"I know," Ollie smirked and it was probably obvious he was playing along, being purposefully arrogant. It was also pretty obvious that he was infinitely pleased with her approval of today's date-like activity. While he never showed it, a part of Ollie always worried that he was being too relaxed or childish with her and it was always a relief when his ideas were met with delight rather than disdain.
He grinned as he grabbed her hand again and started pulling her towards the entrance and then the rides. "We're riding THAT one first," he informed her, pointing at the scariest looking roller coaster in the park. "It'll make everything else seem tame by comparison, but it's the perfect first ride."
Giving her hand an impatient tug, he started to pull her toward the ride he'd pointed out, though he got distracted on the way. "Oh, cotton candy! Definitely need some of that!"
It was quite obvious that he was playing along and being purposefully arrogant but she also knew that the boy had an ego, too. Honestly, the ego that he had sort of made him that much more attractive. Then again, Ashleigh had always found confidence attractive... it was one of the things she loved about Ed.
While some girls might not appreciate the types of dates that Ollie set up for them, Ashleigh absolutely loved them. They were fun and creative. She never knew what to expect and, at the same time, she was never taken home disappointed.
Once he'd dragged her inside the amusement park, her eyes were darting from here to there, trying to take it all in. She wasn't exactly paying attention to where he was indicating when he spoke of their first ride of the day but, when she did, her eyes grew wide with.... shock/fear/excitement. "That one first, eh?" she questioned, almost gulping at the mere thought. "Okay." As crazy as it sounded, his reasoning for choosing the largest, scariest ride in the place seemed valid. Besides, she wasn't going to be the one to chicken out.
Ashleigh couldn't help laughing when he was so easily distracted by the cotton candy. "Yes, we do. A double serving but... not yet."
If she was going to be dragged onto that ride, she was going to do it right now. Cotton candy would just have to wait.
"Ride first," she insisted and this time she was the one dragging him through the sea of people.
There was a slight whimper of protest, but Ollie allowed himself to be dragged away from the candy, even though he really wanted some. It wasn't like he wasn't going to deny the girl what she wanted, right?
It was a short line, relatively speaking, and soon they were buckled into the ride. Ollie let his hand rest casually on her leg as he turned his face toward hers and grinned brightly at her.
"Excited?" he asked, hardly noticing that his thumb was tracing random little patterns over her thigh.
Oh, Ashleigh definitely wanted cotton candy and they'd definitely be coming back for it but, right now, she didn't want to carry it. Besides, he'd said they were going to ride that ride and they were going to do that before fear or dread had a chance to sit in the pit of her stomach.
The line wasn't terrible long but her pulse quickened with each step they took and by the time they were seated, she was certain her heart was going to pound out of her chest.
Ollie might not have noticed the hand on her leg or the way that his thumb was tracing little patterns over her thigh but Ashleigh did. Though that touch was simple, it sent little goose bumps over her flesh and she had to fight a shiver.
"Yeah," she admitted as she looked up at him. "Or terrified... one or the other of those."
"Oh, you'll be fine," he assured her, his hand shifting over her leg to slip into her hand and give it a reassuring squeeze. "You're going to love it, just wait.."
He winked at her, grinning and letting his hand stay around hers, his thumb absently rubbing over the back of said hand now.
He was oblivious to any affect his touch was having, of course, though he wouldn't have been upset in the least to know about it. Ashleigh liking his hands on her? Pretty much a good thing.
Ashleigh was certain that she was going to love it, the wait was what made it rough. She had waited in line, now she was waiting for them to load all the other passengers into their appropriate seats. If the ride didn't start soon, she was going to have a nervous fit.
She bit her lip when his hand brushed over her leg but her face straightened again when their fingers were locking together. The only guy that had ever made her tingle was Ed. While this didn't exactly compare to the way he made her feel, it was amazing that she was reacting to him at all. No other man had been able to manage that before now and it surprised her how much she seemed to like having his hands on her.
"Oh, I'm sure I will... couldn't it just start already?" She returned his grin, then, and squeezed his hand. Geeze, the buildup was the worst!
A few minutes after those words left her mouth, the roller coaster started moving. Slowly, it began it's trek to the top. The higher they went, the more Ashleigh's hand tightened around Ollie's and just as the first car reached the peak, she mumbled a breathless, "Holy cow."
Another second later, their car was plummeting over the edge and she gave a squeal of delight as her insides lurched. Several moments later, the ride came to a screeching halt, leaving her breathless and flushed.
"Holy cow," she repeated as she looked up at him. Another four or five breaths later, she smiled. "How about that cotton candy, now?"
Ollie grinned and he filled those next few minutes with a distraction. He pulled her into a kiss, right there on the ride, keeping his lips pressed to hers until the ride finally started to move.
Once the ride ended, he grinned over at you. "Amazing, wasn't it? Didn't I tell you?" He was practically bouncing as they made their way off of the ride and he still had not let go of her hand.
"Yes! Cotton candy! Definitely! Let's do that!"
Ollie was just a little hyperactive, which some people couldn't really handle, but he hoped she liked it, because he couldn't seem to contain it, especially around a girl he liked as much as he liked her.
Ashleigh had been surprised by having his lips suddenly pressed to hers but she certainly hadn't resisted in the slightest. After all, this wasn't the first time Ollie had kissed her and, if she was to be honest, she would have to admit that she liked it.
Her grin matched his as they climbed off of the ride. He definitely hadn't lied. It had been completely amazing and she was really ready to hop onto another ride. Adrenaline, anyone? Ollie had wanted cotton candy, though, and she definitely couldn't deny him that... especially when it involved her getting some, as well.
"Alright!" she answered, obviously just as excited as he was.
Ollie was a lot hyperactive and Ashleigh adored it. It was part of what made him so much fun. It was why she was starting to have trouble finding reasons not to go on dates with him.
She bounced a little as they made their way up to the cotton candy stand. "I want blue," she announced, already reaching in her pocket for her money. Sure, they were on a date and it was customary for the guy to pay but she didn't see where buying a little cotton candy would hurt. Besides, he'd paid for them to get into the amusement park.
