Eric had been glad that he'd given both himself and Leah a week to prepare for their initial session. It had been slightly difficult to rearrange his schedule, so it took at least three days to work things out and inform his clients which dates and times were changing for their own lessons. A few had been agitated, but he'd managed to assuage them by offering a free, extra lesson at the end of the following week.
Granted, this meant that he'd be incredibly busy come Thursday and Friday, but he had a sneaking suspicion that it would be worth it.
He'd also made a phone call to Leah at the end of last week, confirming their plans and arranging a proper time before giving her directions to his place. And then the weekend was dedicated to tidying up for yet another week of work.
He partially cleaned specifically for her; for some reason, he felt as though this were an important impression he wanted to make upon her, and he couldn't for the life of him figure out why. It wasn't as though he had any sort of hopes for where this might go; he wasn't even really looking for something. She was beautiful, yes. And he couldn't deny that he felt attracted to her.
However, it was an attraction that had very little to do with the way she smiled or how her eyes had sparkled in the evening sun. It was something he couldn't explain, something deeper that tugged him toward her. He didn't think that he was supposed to understand it, so he left it in the back of his mind and soldiered on.
It was nearing four when he finally finished the last of his small chores, and he could sit in his favorite wingback chair to relax before she arrived. He needed the moment to clear his head of various thoughts and let his body slip into tune with the room.
