Emily had to smile at that. Maybe it was silly, but she liked hearing him say it. It was like an echo of the past, in a way, and that just summed up a big part of why she liked spending time with Dean so much. He reminded her of a simpler time, in a lot of ways. As much as she loved Bethie and didn't regret having her for a second, sometimes she just wanted to pretend she was a kid again, herself.
"Thanks, so do you," she said, still smiling when she stepped back from the hug. "I may have already taken the liberty of ordering, so I hope your favorites are still your favorites," she said. "It should be here any minute." Despite a few nerves, Emily was really looking forward to tonight.
