"Oh you may have? Gentle nudge or outright push?" Dean asked, returning her grin. He didn't really care how much she may have helped or not but seeing her smiling like this was one of the things he'd missed most about home.
Something about the way she answered him struck Dean as not completely true but he didn't say anything. He knew better than to push Ingrid for anything she wasn't willing to tell him. Especially when it come to something other people had confided in her. They both knew he wouldn't tell anything she revealed to him but that just made the fact that she wouldn't tell him anyway more impressive in his mind. He respected that about her and it was one of the reasons he'd always liked hanging out with her.
"Knowing you two - probably as much as she missed you while she was gone," he told her, reaching over to squeeze her leg gently. Normally he'd have reached for her hand but she was driving and he didn't want to take the chance of doing something to distract her. "So you never answered my other question. Feel like guessing or do you just want me to tell you why I might not be going back to New York this fall?" he said trying to come up with something to pull her out of the mood he sensed her coming close to by his mention of Ronnie.
