"About time those two quit dancing around it. I can't have been the only person who noticed that they were really into each other," Dean told her in response to her news about Zoe and Chris. He hadn't spent much time with either of them but it'd been pretty obvious to him the last time he was home that the two of them really cared about one another. He'd figured then that it would only be a matter of time before something happened between them or one of them gave up on waiting and moved on to someone else. "Doesn't surprise me that they're not together even if they're having a baby. I can't remember a single relationship Theo's ever been in..." he said his voice trailing off as he thought about it. "I heard that Ronnie'd moved home. But mom didn't know the details. She okay?" he asked, remembering how close Ingrid and her younger sister had always been.
"I haven't really thought about anybody specific I wanted to ask out. Besides it wouldn't be fair for me to start something up if I'm not going to be here in the fall," he told her, not even realizing he'd said if until the sentence was out of his mouth. He looked away for a minute and then back at her as he realized his mistake. "So three guesses about that slip or do you want me to just tell you why I might not be going back to New York this fall?" he asked her, teasing plain in his voice.
