Charles nodded. "You know Chris. He's all blah, blah, science, blah. Sometimes I wonder if he'd even know how to have fun if it wasn't for us." He was teasing of course. His brother enjoyed science and history and police shows. Charles didn't care what he liked but it was fun having something to pick on him about. It was an older brother's right to tease and pick on their younger siblings.
Conversation was easy with Cassie. They never fell into an uncomfortable silence or were short on topics to talk about. That was true the entire way from the movie theater to his place. Charles took his keys out of his pocket, glancing over at Cassie. The light behind her seemed to make her glow in the the darkness. As he was pushing the door open he was greatly hoping that Chris was not home or asleep at least. He wasn't exactly ready to end his night with Cassie or share her just yet.
"Looks like no ones home," he told her, flicking on the lights. "Why don't you pick a movie? Or find something on tv? And I'll take Bear out real quick," he suggested, grabbing he leash from the hook it was hanging on. Charles disappeared quickly to let Bear out and let him say hi to Cassie before getting him ready to go for a short walk.
