After some much needed sleep after Highway 21’s world tour, Dexter was more than happy to be home. He loved the rock star life but right now he was looking for some fun. Some relaxation. The first thing he did when he woke up was head over to Perna’s place. Naturally they both had keys to the others place. It wasn’t often that they were apart. Dexter let himself into her place, coffee and donuts and other various, sugary treats in his arms. A smile on his face as he set them down and made his way to his best friends room. He really should have bought an air horn. Now that would have been a great way to wake her up. Shame he thought of that a little too late. “Rise and shine!” Dexter called, flopping onto her bed. “I brought coffee and breakfast. Even though it’s somewhere between lunch and dinner,” he added, grinning at her. Perna was passed out. That much was easy. She'd enjoyed the tour as much as the rest of them but now she was playing sleep-catch up. Always the best game. She didn't hear Dex come in. The wolfhound was zonked out at his master's feet, too happy to have her back to care about Dex's arrival. Poor Mac spent much of the tour kenneled with a friend. He lifted his head when Dex slipped into the room, stretched and padded up to him. he nudged him once then padded out the door. Perna merely tossed a bit before she damn near fell out of bed as he flopped onto it. The sudden change and sound brought her from sleep to wide awake with a minor heart attack in 2.3 seconds. She flailed for a moment, and sat blinking at Dex. "Oh sweet zombie jesus, is it really that late?" she said sleepily, slowly pulling her brain into the state of being that her body was in. "AND DONT DO THAT." she said with her eyes wide. "Scared the living crap out of me!!!!!!!" How could he not do that? Especially when it gained such a hilarious reaction! Dexter hadn't entertained the idea that he may have scared her at all. He hadn't anticipated that reaction, but maybe he should have. He started laughing so hard when she nearly fell out of bed. "BUT IT'S SO MUCH FUN!" Dexter managed between laughing. He had slept forever, he'd already had a cup of coffee and some sugar and was wide awake. "Yes, it is that late, lazy bones," he teased. He was ready to have some fun so she should be too! Not sleeping. "Get your ass out of bed," he told her as he climbed off the bed. "I've got coffee and a ton of sugary breakfast shaped things for us. Even though someone slept through breakfast," he added, sticking his tongue out at her. Never mind the fact that he slept through breakfast. But Perna didn't need to know that. She pushed the tangled locks of black out of her eyes and TRIED to glower at him but she couldn't. It was Dex. She smiled faintly and shook her head. "FINE IM MOVING" she giggled back at him, rolling out of bed and stumbling to grab some clothes other than a long t-shirt and skivies. "Ass is moving. Bed is being left behind. CAFFEINE?" she whipped her head around. "There better be some cause I NEED IT" she whined as she danced into her jeans. They had been on tour together. She wasn't shy around him, at least not when she wasn't thinking about it. "I'm going. FUN. Oh I know. New tattoos." sagely nod. Dexter grinned at her as she giggled, rolling out of bed. He probably could have been a gentleman and looked away but the girl was incredibly sexy. Besides it wasn't like he hadn't seen her before and she was covered up. "There is. Because you are way too grumpy with out it." He liked living thank you you very much. It was important to bring coffee to her if he was going to keep breathing. And he kind of liked breathing. It was good she wasn't shy around him but then again he wasn't shy around anyone, least of all his bandmates. Dexter turned to look at her. "New tattoos," he echoed, mulling the idea over in his mind. He looked over his exposed skin thinking of new ink he could get. He didn't know what he wanted but he was sure he could find something. "Brilliant idea," he said, leading the way to the food and coffee. "You are a god if you bring coffee." she said with a sagely nod. She never bothered with hiding from the band. They found you half passed out drunk in a corner half the time - what could be worse than than? Or at your emotional worst. Being half-naked wasn't anything any of them couldn't handle. "I am not grumpy." she said with a flat smile. Although it didn't last long as she nearly fell over with a gigglefit. It just wasn't Perna if she wasn't laughing "Mmm mmm hmmm" she grinned wickedly. "of course it is. I live for brilliant ideas." she grinned again as she padded after him for caffeine and noms. "What did you bring me?" she asked. "Damn right baby. I am a god," he responded. He heard nothing after the word god. Frankly that was the important part of the sentence. Nothing else really mattered. "Of course I brought you coffee." He was pretty awesome. If he said so himself. Dexter gave her a look. "Nooooo. You're never grumpy without caffiene…" He shook his head. "What didn't I get?" He gestured to the feast that was haphazardly dropped onto her table. There were donuts and muffins and cupcakes and several other sugary goodness that he picked up from Decadent Cravings on his way over. You know, after he stopped at Magic Beans Cafe to get the best coffee in town. Most people didn't earn this side of him. The side where he went out of his way to do something nice or special. Perna and his bandmates were different though. Dexter grabbed his coffee and handed Perna hers before reaching into the pile of food and grabbing the first treat his fingers connected with. "mmmmm I don't believe you." she snipped before walking into the dining room where the place was laden with goodies. She accepted her coffee without a second's hesitation, drinking of the sweet ambrosia with her eyes closed. "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm" she practically melted right there. "Oh sweet god, Dex. Marry me so I can have this every morning." she dove into the food without a second thought, giggling as she spoke, coming up with a glazed doughnut and a chocolate chip muffin. She sunk into a chair and practically melted right there taking a bite of the deliciousness that was a doughnut. "The way to my heart is through my stomach... or through an IV with Caffeine." she mused as she turned the doughnut over, examining it like it was a prized diamond. "Alright," he agreed easily, the grin on his lips reaching all the way to his eyes. "Just don't go all crazy like the last one." His relationship with Tessa had been a wild ride. Getting hitched in Vegas while they were drunk certainly didn't help matters. Thankfully enough that was all over and done. He was free to live his life without the bad kind of crazy. He was certain that Perna couldn't do to him what Tessa had done. "Noted. Though I think anyone who is in a room with you for more than five minutes already knows that." Dexter loved the way they teased and bantered with each other. They were best friends which made that incredibly easy. He looked over at her. "Matching tattoos after the ceremony?" he teased. "Wouldn't that rock the boat?" she questioned with laughter before shaking her head. "Baby I am crazy. Just a better crazy." She said with a deadpan expression, eyes sparkling with mischief. Perna had been there for the roller coaster and had hated watching it. It hurt to see one of her best friends fall apart before her eyes. There may have been a reason Tessa and Her had not gotten along. "Oh point. I'm pretty much a caffeine fiend." she grinned giggling as she shoved half the doughnut down her throat. She did chew, at least. Then washed it down with coffee. "Oh lord this is the best wake up ever." Perna set her coffee down and reached for his, and put it down. She pounced then, and wrapped her friend in one of her classic attack hugs. "YAAAY COFFEEEEEEEEEE" she giggled out as she let him go. "Fuck yes. They have to be awesome though." "Baby I always rock the boat," Dex said, the tone of his words full of innuendo. He grinned at her when she said she was a better crazy. There couldn't be many people that were crazier than how his ex had turned out to be. At least, he hoped not. Except fans. Some of the fans he'd encountered so far were bat shit crazy. Dexter finished his first treat and moved onto a cupcake. It was like a cousin to the muffin. And hey, it was way past breakfast anyway. "You are definitely a fiend," Dex agreed. He let her take his coffee and set it down. He hadn't known what she was planning to do but it became clear just a moment later. Laughing as his arms wrapped around her and lifting her off the ground. "I do set the bar pretty high." Nodding when she said they had to be awesome, he added, "Then obviously I have to pick them out." "Is that so?" she asked laughing. Perna smiled her best cray cray smile before dissolving into giggles. She couldn't help it. This was the best breakfast ever. "I'm the best damn fiend EVER." she stated rather clearly before her pounce. She squealed with joy as he lifted her up off the ground, arms holding tight so he'd not drop her. "Waaaaaaaait are you saying I have bad tattoo tastes?" she wiggled so she could look down at him, brows furrowed, lips pursed in mock disappointment at such a statement. "How could you even suggest such a thing?" He gave her a look that said duh. "You know its so baby," he said, with a wink. "Is that something you should be admitting?" he asked, one eyebrow raised. That didn't seem like something anyone should be telling another person. He was only teasing though. Dexter already knew that his best friend was crazy. "You just have taste." Dexter didn't mean it and that much should be obvious from his playful tone. Not to mention they always bantered like this. Dex was far too playful to actually be mean. He was about having fun, having a good time and living life. As if he could ever offend Perna. Really now. She stuck her tongue out at him and blew a raspberry at him. "How the hell would I know? I mean, I don't go all voyeuristic on you." she said with a straight face. Although it didn't and couldn't last - she broke out into a grin after a few seconds. "It is. I mean, I embrace that thought. Better that way than, say, trying to ignore who I really am." she mused with a warm smile and another squeezing hug before she dove back for another muffin. "Mm taste." she flung a chocolate chip at him for that one. "Mmmmmm if I just have taste, what do you have?" "As if. You love me. You fantasize about me. Probably were when I came in at least from the look on your face." Dexter was overly confident but hey, he was a rock god and pretty damn awesome. He had a reason to be cocky if you asked him. But his friends saw more than that. Right now though he was feeling playful and cocky and Perna was sitting there looking hot. Really, it wasn't his fault. She should hold the blame. "Definitely better that way. Honestly, he wouldn't change a thing about Perna. He loved everything from her craziness and her moods to the way her hair fell in her face and the hugs she gave. It wasn't something he'd admit or that he was even conscious of, but the way Perna had been there for him through all of the stuff with Tess…something changed. It changed how he got defensive when Tessa said something about Perna, or wanted him not to hang out with her. Maybe someone smarter than him might have realized but Dexter didn't follow one thought for long. Dexter tried to catch the chocolate chip with his mouth. Unfortunately he missed and it him him in the forehead before falling to the table. He grabbed it and popped it into his mouth. "Mmm." He shrugged his shoulders, looking smug. "I have good taste, flavor and swag. I'm awesome." "I do love you' she said sagely as she shook her head lightly. "Oh yes, totally fantasize about you. ALL THE TIME." she purred as licked her lips and smiled. "GOOD. I am fantastic at being crazy. It's fun, You know!" she grinned wickedly. She ran her nails through her dark hair and smiled again. She'd looked at Dex like a bandmate, and a brother, and a bestie for years but Tessa had hurt him and it made her livid. She became protective and a solid rock for him during the whole mess. "Nice catch." she teased as she sat down in a chair and poked him with a finger. "You have taste. I have good taste. Actually WE HAVE EXCELLENT taste!" she grinned wickedly. "We're both awesome!" "I knew you couldn't stop thinking about me," he said. "I'd love to know what these fantasies include," Dexter queried. Although she might be sarcastic at the moment he was sure that she's had fantasies. Then again anyone who has seen him would. He's hot, he's rich and he's a rock star. "Alright fine. We have excellent taste," he finally agreed. "I'm just a little more awesome." What? It was true. Samperna grinned wickedly and pushed him into a chair. She draped herself over his lap and licked her lips, leaning to rest nose to nose with him. bright eyes sparkled with mischief. "That my dear is for me to know and you to guess at." she teased wickedly as she leaned her forehead on his. "What I think is that YOU have fantasies about ME." Perna never really THOUGHT about it. She'd had daydreams of wondering how he'd kiss, and similar thoughts, but she never really thought about it until now. Damn him. "So. Dooooo you?" She then lazily poked him in the ribs. "We both have excellent taste, and we're equally awesome." she said sagely and smiled. "Either we finish breakfast and go get ink, or we finish breakfast and go pass out again. Up to you." |
