"How are you?" Sammie asked, hugging Livvy tightly. It hadn't been all that long since she 'd seen her but Sam still felt awful for everything she'd had to go through the last several weeks. "Any updates on the baby?" she questioned, maybe a bit too excitedly. Could she be blamed for being anxious to meet the little baby? Spoiling was in the babies future. Sam was certain there were many people who were going to be spoiling the little one and she was definitely going to be one of them! “I’m okay,” Livvy answered. It was mostly the truth, even if okay meant focusing on work and not thinking too hard about everything that had happened or the fact that she’d be raising a baby on her own. She wasn’t ready for this, but she knew that wasn’t going to stop the baby from coming, so she was trying to prepare herself as much as she could. She shook her head at the second question her best friend asked. “He’s perfectly healthy, as far as anyone can tell. I suppose I should start thinking about names and all that.” The apartment wasn’t really large enough for a baby, but she hadn’t yet found anything bigger that she really liked. She knew she was running short on time, but it wouldn’t hurt to keep the baby in her room for awhile. "I'm sure your day just got awesome. You know, since I stopped by.". She grinned at her best friend and opened up the box of desserts she picked up on the way. What was a little girl time without some yummy desserts? "That's good! And yes, you probably should. Names are kind of a good thing," Sam said. She wasn't being mean at all. She was just trying be light hearted and cheery. Then again Sam was rarely anything but. ”Well, I was thinking of just calling him ‘hey, you,’” she joked. She grinned to show that she was definitely kidding. Really, she hadn’t given it a lot of thought. She knew she needed to get those details figured out, but she kept putting it off. Thinking about the baby led to thinking about JJ and she couldn’t even begin to process all the feelings that brought up. She forced herself to grin at her friend. “You know I’m glad you stopped by,” she told her seriously. “And not just because you brought me yummies.” She was really glad to have Sam and Jill and.. everyone. She didn’t know how she’d be getting through all of this without her friends and family. Sam could understand her reasons for not thinking about it. She couldn't imagine being in her situation at all. It was awful. She gave Livvy a smile when she said she'd been thinking about calling him 'hey, you'. Sam knew Livvy wasn't serious of course. Humor was just an easier way to deal and she could understand that. "Good! I know I normally call first but I picked up way too many treats at the bakery and was hoping you and my future niece or nephew would help me eat them.". Sam was glad to be here for Livvy, for anything. She wished that her best friend didn't have to experience such pain or loss but all the wishing wasn't going to change anything. All she could do was be there for Livvy in any way that she needed. Livvy smiled back at her best friend. It felt good to do that. She was doing okay, really. Sometimes it would all hit her and she’d fall into a mood, but she was doing pretty well, all things considered. Moments like this helped, though. Just hanging out with loved ones and acting normal. “We are definitely more than willing,” Livvy assured her as she picked at one of the pastries Sammie had brought with her. “And you know you’re always welcome,” she added in a softer tone. “With or without yummy things.” Sammie was her best friend. They’d never been through anything quite like this together before, but everything that had happened just meant Livvy needed her friend more than ever. She was really glad she was here. |
