Her eyes were focused on him as he explained the jail and the court. She kind of felt horrible about everything she'd thought. Though she couldn't help but wonder why he didn't tell her before. About it all. About everything.
It wasn't an excuse but it was a hell of a lot better than anything she'd tortured herself with. There was a whole host of stories all ending with her being the problem; her being the reason that he was racing back to Chicago. Either that or about how he had a girlfriend back home still. There was a ton of scenarios that had plagued her for a long time. None of them invalid it being an involuntary reason that pulled him back home.
"Wow." It was soft, just above a whisper as she processed everything. She couldn't believe it but she didn't think he was lying. Bee was just struggling to wrap her brain around it. "That's...but at least you did it...you took responsibility," she said.
"It's…it's…" Bee trailed off not sure what to say. She had been going to say its okay but that wasn't exactly true. What he'd done was apparently bad and the way he'd left had hurt, had devastated her. "I…it's….apology accepted," Belinda finally said. He'd done what had been right for him, best for him to take steps to who he wanted to be. "Well on one condition," she added, looking on him seriously.
Sure, it would take time to get their friendship back but being in different state would probably help that. Until they figured out how to get used to things again. Friendship that is. They'd had their shot at dating. And while she could have really fallen for her, things were different. More than a year was a long time and a lot had changed in her life.
