Holding a full time job, going to school at night and still trying to teach a few dance classes a week kept Jillian hopping. She felt like she was always busy, always doing something. Which was okay most of the time but with the nice weather rolling in, she couldn't help but be distracted by the first taste of spring after a very, very long, snowy winter. Jill hadn't intended to be out after dark or to be walking back to her apartment after dance classes so she hadn't brought a jacket. All she was wearing was a tank top with a shrug top over it and her leggings. As the sun went further down she could steadily feel the temperature decreasing. She grabbed a cup of coffee from a nearby cart and grabbed a seat on an empty bench. Jillian sipped her coffee, the warmth settling over her and stopped her from shivering quite so much. Alex was enjoying a walk through the park on his way home when he spotted a familiar face. He had been so busy with work and attempting to take a few classes, himself, that he hadn’t had much time for socialising lately. When he did have the time, he tended to spend it with Allena more often than not and it had been quite some time since he had seen Jillian. It was starting to grow a little chilly, so as Alex approached the park bench, he draped a jacket over her shoulders before having a seat next to her. “I think you’re a bit underdressed," he teased her, certain that her coffee wasn’t going to do a nearly adequate job of keeping her warm. Jillian jumped slightly as a jacket slipped around her shoulders. She hadn't exactly been expecting anyone after all. When she saw that it was Alex who slipped into the open seat next to her, her lips turned upward in a bright smile that danced all the way to her eyes. The coffee was doing a …decent job of keeping her warm…ish. It certainly was better than nothing. But she definitely couldn't deny that his jacket did much, much more for her than her cup of coffee. "Not with my new jacket," she teased back, grinning at him. "When I left the studio it was much warmer than this. It was far too nice to ignore," Jillian explained. Alex returned her smile with a bright grin of his own. Jill had a beautiful smile and she proved a lovely distraction. He’d been having those bloody dreams again, the horribly graphic ones he both loved and hated. Dreaming of doing those things with Allena and not being able to do them in reality was bloody frustrating. He was glad to have something else to focus on for a little while. “Didn’t anyone ever tell you that you should be prepared for anything in New York City?" he said, choosing to tease her just a little bit more He wore an easy, relaxed grin and it was probably obvious he was only having her on. He just couldn’t quite help himself. “You’re very lucky I happened along, Ms. Hunt," he added, smirking a little bit. “You might have froze to death and we can’t have that." "Hmm…I think I must have missed that memo but thanks to you, now I know." She really should have been prepared. After living in the city this long she should have remembered how quickly and how drastically the weather can change. "Indeed. Very lucky," she agreed, grinning at him. She couldn’t deny she was much warmer than she was before he showed up. “My knight in shining armor. How ever can I repay you kind sir?" Jilly asked, looking up at him and batting her lashes like she had seen it done in the movies. She was subtly mocking the damsel in distress but it was all in good fun! She tried her best not to smile but she didn't entirely pull that off. "You could join me for supper," he suggested with a smile. He knew her words were in jest, but the truth was that he was feeling a little peckish and he wouldn’t mind having some company for supper. Normally, he would have just texted Allena, but the dreams were fresh in his mind and it had been awhile since he’d spent any time with Jill. It would be nice to do so now that he had bumped into her here in the park. “I’m fairly certain Montague’s is a bit warmer than this park bench and I do hate to dine alone," he added a little more seriously. Jill was glad that it was Alex she’d bumped into tonight. It had been sometime since they’d been able to get together between both of their busy schedules. It was never a bad night when she got to spend a little time with him. “Warmer would certainly be nice." Next time she had a class she was going to make sure she had a set of clothes for each season, just in case. "And I suppose that would only be fair," she said, teasing in agreement. “After all, you did spare me from freezing to death." Jill was more than happy to accompany Alex to Montague’s and hopefully he was able to infer that through her playful teasing. Alex was glad, too. He enjoyed spending time with Jill. It had been a little while, but he was glad to be seeing her now. “It would only be fair,” he agreed, a playful smirk on his lips as he rose from the bench and held his hand out to her. “Saving you from freezing to death should be worth dinner and at least a few hours of your company.” He was teasing, for the most part, but he was still glad she was agreeing to join him for dinner. "Then I would be a horrible person for denying your request," Jilly answered, grinning at Alex. She slipped her hand into his and stood up. This was definitely a great way to spend a Saturday night. She pulled the jacket tighter around her frame and smiled as they started off to Montagues. Some time later, they were leaving Montague’s with much fuller stomachs. Dinner had been quite nice and Alex was pleased that she’d agreed to let him walk her home. It was a little bit of a hike, but he didn’t mind, despite the slight chill in the air. The walk passed quickly and soon they found themselves standing outside Jill’s building. Alex paused to brush a strand of hair from her face as he smiled down here. “I had a lovely time. Thank you for joining me,” he murmured with a slight smile. |
