It had started out like any other weekend. Dari had spent Friday and Saturday night at Jeremy's, just as she always did. It was always nice to have her boyfriend to herself for the weekend and to have some time for some quality time. She was so focused on school during the week that it was nice to just relax once in awhile.
After the usual Sunday brunch (which was amazingly delicious, as always), they'd been making plans for a day at the park and they were just getting ready to leave when Dari realized she'd forgotten something in her dorm. Her birth control patch needed to be changed and, like an idiot, she'd left the box in her bathroom and forgotten to bring it.
Though he'd groaned with feigned annoyance, Jeremy gladly made the stop at her dorm. He was leaned against her door frame, watching her move around the room, when her eyes went wide. Ashleigh's bed was still perfectly neatly made and the girl wasn't in the dorm. It was far too early for her to have made it and gone out already and Dari's brow furrowed with worry as she reached for her phone to call her best friend. Who didn't pick up. The call went straight to voice mail and the worry lines on Dari's face deepened. "She.. she hasn't been home," she explained when Jeremy gave her a curious look.

Several hours later, Dari had already called Ed, hoping to find her friend had been with him and the three of them were gathered in Ashleigh's dorm. Ed was leaning against a wall and brooding. Dari was alternating between pacing back and forth and leaning worriedly on Jeremy. She and Ed had each tried Ashleigh a few dozen more times before concluding that phoning wasn't going to work.
"Where is she?" Dari whined helplessly, biting her lip as she tried not to consider the dozens of horrible things that could happen to a teenage girl in New York City.
