Eric walked from the kitchen, carrying two glasses of water carefully in his hands. Since last week, he'd grown both more nervous and more relaxed in Leah's presence; part of him was relieved at knowing that she felt something for him. Part of him was terrified at somehow messing it all up and losing her. What made matters worse was that she wasn't technically even his to lose -- not yet.
"Here we are," he said softly, smiling at her as he brought the water to the piano and sat back down on the bench, staring at the music that still rested there. He'd played his cello for a bit during a few warm up chorales, but this music was something different. Something he'd been working on with her in mind.
While he'd been determined to keep their lessons as professional as possible, he'd found it hard to resist her. He'd pressed a kiss to her lips the moment she stepped through the door, he repeatedly let his hands brush against her arms when they moved past one another -- was it possible to teach her and give her all of his help in honing her talent while still being affectionate? He wasn't sure. "This is what I have so far for the piece I mentioned," he told her, beckoning for her to look over the music while he sipped the water.
"It's a lot of low notes, very slow and dark. It's comparable to the Liebestode aria," he explained, left hand lifting to the keys to pluck out the first few notes. "We can change the key if it's too low," he added, looking back to her. "It's still a very rough draft, so any changes are incredibly easy at this point." He managed a softer smile, his eyes gentle as he watched her and felt his chest flutter.
