RP: Nell and Derek
Who: Nell Jones and Derek Morgan
Where: Morgan's office
When: Friday, August 5, 2011 -- just before end of the work day
Summary: Nell's been noticing some really odd things and think's it's time to talk to someone about it.
Thinking back, it had all started with the weird degaussing of her hard drive that neither Nell nor Eric had been able to figure out. Hetty had checked security thoroughly after that and found no breach. It had to have been something weird done remotely, though how that had been done remotely, she couldn't figure out and why her and not one of the others who spent more time out and about instead of strapped to a screen sifting through chatter?
After that, though, she'd noticed a few other odd things happening, like suddenly her hair clips and hairpins seemed to prefer staying stuck to her head than coming out of her hair at night. Or, the way she always seemed to find paper clips stuck to her clothes. And that didn't even begin to describe the weird things electronics were doing. If she believed in such things -- which she didn't and wouldn't without more hard scientific evidence -- she'd almost think she was being haunted and surrounded by odd electromagnetic fields that were supposed to occur during spirit manifestations.
Of course, all of that was before she dropped her knife. With training, she'd discovered an affinity for knife fighting. It was something well suited for someone her size and she felt almost like a hobbit brandishing one. Hetty had given her a nice one with a steel blade for her birthday and Nell kept it in her computer bag as a precaution. While rummaging around in the bag looking for a fresh thumb drive, the knife slipped it's sheath and skittered across the floor as it landed, coming to rest far beneath the desk. Too far for Nell's arm to reach.
That just made it more obvious when the damn thing practically jumped into her hand, barely missing her fingers with the blade!
Now, then, that was when all the pieces started to fit together and she realized what had been happening all along. And, really, that was kind of awesome! She'd really only hoped for something useful and this was definitely useful. Wait until she showed Eric!
But, first, she supposed she should do what she was supposed to and talk to one of the leads. Well, talk to Morgan. Instinct still had her thinking of Callen first. Yet, she knew she was supposed to report to Morgan and it would help Callen and the Director and everyone if she followed that protocol first. So, packing everything up early, she grabbed her things and went to find him. Really, that wasn't hard. Find the people and there would Morgan be.
"Agent Morgan," she asked politely when she did find him. "If you have a moment, could I speak with you?"
