"See that just sounds like dating to me." And Robert seemed to agree, though hell if anyone ever tried something like that with him. He didn't stick around long enough for that and well - it wasn't like Mike was in the right tax bracket for anyone to think palimony would be worth the trouble in his case. "Mom still asks, she's just not quite as adamant about it these days." He shook his head when Robert continued mentioning his mom. "She was your mom, maybe not by birth but that isn't what makes parents - it's being there that counts." And yeah it was fucked up what happened to Robert, and finding out the way he did, and the way he'd been given everything while Callen hadn't gotten anything - but that was life, it was never fair. "Sometimes it's easier just not talking about it." Mike agreed, "And sometimes it's not." Hoping he made it clear that he was there to talk if Robert ever needed it.
"Under three grand, man that's a steal." Mike snorted at the very idea of jeans like that. "I think I might have paid 80 bucks for mine." He couldn't help laughing when Robert assured him his plan wasn't all that great. "So wait, your experience with menial labor is through your friend Britney who had a job for what? Two whole days before she quit to get daddy to give her Mercedes back? God how do you even survive here?" He laughed again just completely mystified that Robert could have grown up like that. "I stand corrected maybe you're on the same continent as normal, but that's as close as you're getting, man."
"You ever hear that saying you catch more flies with honey than vinegar?" Mike asked curious, what Robert thought about the Murrows wasn't really important to him, Robert could think what he liked, but he found it interesting the way Robert dealt with people. "They'll be good to have around when we have to leave if nothing else."
Mike grinned at that. "The question of my sanity has always been a bit iffy, you can talk to Sam about that." But it was focus on figuring things out or give in to this world he didn't understand - and Mike had known from the start which direction was going to be the most helpful to him. It was all a conscious choice.
He smiled while Robert told him about Monte Carlo and Sardinia, watching his face while he talked, it was easy to see him picturing being there - sure that he was pulling memories to the surface of his mind while he told Mike about it. Mike might never have had the sort of life Robert did, but he could enjoy watching Robert talk about it. Of course all thoughts about Monte Carlo and going out and anything else were promptly pushed from his mind when they moved.
"Well - it's not Monte Carlo, so we can't be sure if it was you." Mike huffed, adrenaline pumping through his veins as he took stock of himself and his parts and their new position in the room. "I think it's likely. Are you all right? What were you thinking of? Did you feel anything in particular when it happened?"
