RP: G and Sam
Who: G Callen and Sam Hanna
Where: Their house
When: Thursday, July 7, 2011 -- early, early morning
Summary: G's awake. Sam should be, too.
G was wide awake. He didn't think it'd been a nightmare. He couldn't remember it, if it had been. That in itself would make this unusual. It wasn't really his usual insomnia. He'd had one of his better nights, only waking two or three times. No, he could feel it in his internal clock, confirmed with a glance at the actual clock. It was only an hour or so before they normally got up.
G wasn't likely to go back to sleep at this juncture.
Normally, he would just lay there until Sam woke up. But, that wasn't half as satisfying now that the temperatures were warming up and it he couldn't use the excuse of keeping them warm any longer to stay curled around Sam until the other man woke up. G was sure Sam knew G was really doing it for the pure comfort of having his partner right there, laying a claim in his sleep he was still surprised to remember was his to make. But, he preferred having his thinly veiled excuses for the affection, still.
The trick was waking Sam up without seeming to have meant to wake him. It wasn't like G was ever going to admit aloud how much he hated the fact he was kept running in seven different directions all day and they hardly had time to just be together the two of them like they used to be. Nor was it about sex, but just that easy camaraderie of spending time together, watching a game or just sharing a beer. Between work and the wedding, G's time was usually spoken for these days.
He opted for easy, subtle, tracing patterns on Sam's chest with his fingers. He drew circles, played tic tac toe. But, he kept his touch light, so if Sam was still deeply asleep, he'd get the sleep he needed. And, if not, he'd wake up much more pleasantly than when one of G's nightmares jerked them both awake in the middle of the night.
And, if he didn't, he'd never know G was writing 'I love you' with his finger, still better able to 'say' it while his partner slept, despite the rings they now both wore.
