"Oh stop it. You're not that stupid, Tim. You couldn't remember all those plays if you were. Remember I played too," he said, snorting.
Derek put the food to the other side and slid close to Tim, before putting an arm around Tim. "I will teach you everything you will need to survive, whether it's shooting, controlling your power, or accepting the reality of things, because there are no guarantees in this life, whether we're in this dimension or hours. If I'm not around, you will need to fence for yourself, and part of my job is to make sure that you can do it. You're just a kid, your life barely started, and I know this isn't fair. You should have left jail, gone home and enjoyed your life, but we're here, and I'll do what I can to help you until we do get home, and hopefully going back, these powers will disappear and we can go on to lead normal lives."
He nodded. "I think with time, you won't even notice that this is happening. It'll become a natural part of your biorhythms, just like breathing or sleeping. It'll just be something you do without thought." Derek looked at Tim. "Does that mean you want to try before we eat? If that's what you want, then let's go. I'll find things that you can blow up without damage."
