"Isn't that what you're supposed to be doing? Showing me how to be an agent?" Tim countered and shook his head when Derek suggested he'd have them both. "I sure as hell don't want to drive in this city, so unless you're cool with us taking the subway back maybe you oughta just stick with one."
Tim snorted, "I'm tryin' to be nice here, kind of an asshole is better than a completely an asshole. You'd think a smart guy like you could figure that out - it's not that confusing." Tim didn't always understand Derek, he didn't always like what the other man had to say - but what he did like was despite those times when Derek pushed into areas that made Tim uncomfortable, they still had this. It was easy and even if Derek couldn't always find it in himself to let Tim pretend he didn't give Tim a hard time about the joking he liked to do. "Are there really underground bunkers that can withstand nuclear blasts?" Tim wondered, instead of focusing on his powers and learning how to control them.
He frowned poking at the food when Derek mentioned advantages not outweighing the problems his powers could cause. "Seems like they'd be more likely to kill me than stick me in some bunker. You know if I went off and started destroying things and killing people." He didn't see the point in keeping him locked up if it came to that, or maybe he just preferred to think he'd be killed than to imagine what could possibly happen if he was thrown into some secret bunker somewhere.
