April and Sam
April had had the best of days, at least after arriving here. Cooking had been fun, and she could let go of the desire to go home for one night. Meeting people made her feel part of something again, and eating the dinner was almost as nice as cooking it.
She was talking to as many people as she could, wanting to get to know them all. This was a new start whether she wanted one or not and she would have to make the best of it. Still she was glad to have Savannah there, she reminded her of her younger sisters in some ways and she was easy to talk to.
She looked up at the now familiar face of Sam as he came close, smiling. "Are you enjoying yourself?" she asked brightly. "Thank you for inviting us over and letting us cook, by the way. It made my Christmas."
