G was certain he'd forgotten to keep breathing somewhere between are we doing this the crazy way and you're my everything. It just wasn't until Deeks came up to congratulate them -- were they really doing this? Had they really done this? -- that he seemed to remember to start again. He smirked and started to say that if they had to wait to hurt him until after the wedding, he got to hurt him when Sam was done. But, he only got as far as, "If we have to wait-"
Then Savannah was throwing an arm around each of them and stealing the spotlight from them both. G would have to remember to thank her for that later. Whether it was what she intended or not, he was grateful for a chance to mentally regroup. "I should start calling you my little matchmaker," he teased, smiling as she puttered around with the cake.
He might have to start believing in a God just to bless Savannah for giving him an easy exit.
Knowing her as he did, he knew what was coming and waved for her to give Sam both bowls. Then, when she hugged him, he could wrap both arms around her waist tightly in return. "Thank you," he whispered in her ear before kissing her cheek and letting her go. For the happiness, the out, the Father's Day, there were a lot of things he couldn't name behind that thanks.
"You heard the lady," he told Sam, cocky smirk fit loosely back into place, as he nodded toward the stairs. "We've been dismissed and our ice cream is melting. After you." Just had to get upstairs and then G could relax...and maybe say a few things he needed to and couldn't in front of everyone else.
